Location: Homebased - covering Scotland and Northern Ireland
Job type: Permanent

Please be aware this is a permanent position working 35 hours per week (5 days) covering Scotland and Northern Ireland.  The successful candidate must be prepared to be based in the region and the majority of travel will be across Scotland’s central belt

As a result of our continued investment in all aspects of cat welfare, we are seeking a regionally based Cat Welfare Advisor to join our Operations Teams.

Cats Protection is the UK’s leading feline welfare charity with a nationwide network of adoption and homing centres, volunteer-run branches and charity shops. During 2019 we helped around 191,000 cats and kittens, an average of 520 per day.

Cats and their welfare are at the heart of everything we do.  Our volunteer-run branches are central to Cats Protection’s success and have evolved with the charity, accomplishing amazing work to improve the lives of cats for over 90 years. Our branches and centres care for thousands of cats each year until they are able to find a loving new home. In 2019, 41,000 cats were rehomed and 2,500 more reunited with their owners. This success would not be possible without our dedicated team of volunteers and employees.

This role will support our volunteer fosterers by undertaking welfare assessments, maintaining accurate records and helping branches understand and adhere to our cat welfare policies. In addition, the role will contribute to local action plans; build successful and supportive working relationships with volunteers; provide assistance with the recruitment, induction, training and on-going support of Welfare Team Leaders and Fosterers and work with other Cats Protection teams, including field vets; Veterinary and Learning and Development, to assist in delivering initiatives that promote good cat welfare and share best practice.

Our successful candidate will have experience of working in the animal welfare sector and working with volunteers; experience of working in an environment where compliance against an agreed set of standards is necessary and an aptitude for working with processes and systems. Equally as important is the ability to build and maintain excellent working relationships with key stakeholders; communicating effectively and working collaboratively to problem solve and forward plan.

To apply for this position please click the APPLY ONLINE button. Our application process requires you submit a CV and answer screening questions – including explaining your interest and suitability for the role. Unfortunately we cannot accept applications or CVs that are emailed to us directly.
