Job description

Job title: Surveyor
Salary: £35,748.51 per annum plus excellent benefits
Location: Homebased covering Scotland and Northern Ireland
Job type: Permanent
Hours per week: 28 hours per week
Closing date - 18 November 2019

This position will be home-based within the subject region (ideally in the Central Belt) and a willingness to travel within the UK (with occasional overnight stays) is essential.

Due to a large and expanding operational and retail property portfolio, an opportunity has arisen for an experienced and enthusiastic Chartered Surveyor with a solid estates management background and experience of providing professional advice in respect of different property types and tenures.

Cats Protection is the UK’s leading feline welfare charity with a nationwide network of centres, volunteer-run branches and charity shops. During 2018 we helped around 184,000 cats and kittens, an average of 500 per day.

The work will be extensive and very varied, reflecting the nature of the portfolio. In the region to be covered, the portfolio comprises purpose-built cat adoption centres (both centrally-run and volunteer-operated); a network of charity shops across the region (except NI); and a small amount of residential accommodation occupied by staff or third parties. From time to time surveying input is also required with regard to legacy properties.

This role provides the opportunity for the successful candidate to provide high quality professional surveying support to the operational and retail arms of the organisation and to make a significant difference to the Charity’s work in helping cats. The position would suit a ‘hands-on’ Chartered Surveyor with experience of managing a multi-site portfolio, either ‘in-house’ or for a surveying firm on behalf of clients. Membership of RICS is essential.
