Job Description

Centra, the non-profit charity who support vulnerable people living in supported housing accomodation, would like to meet a friendly, active volunteer to facilitate gentle exercise sessions for Older People in the Islington area. 

Time commitment would be from a minimum of 2 hours per week, between Mondasy to Fridays, 9 - 5pm. We hope the volunteer will stay for a minimum of 4 months.

This role requires us to carry out a check through the Disclosure and Barring Service

You activities could include: 

Listening to and planning with residents, exercises which they wish to do.

Focussing more on improving mobility of joints, rather than fitness or stamina

Leading gentle armchair exercises

Playing team spirited games like darts and bowls. 

We support volunteers by the following means: 

  • Volunteers receive a thorough induction and have access to any relevant in-house and external training
  • Volunteers have a named supervisor providing day-to-day support and encouragement
  • Reasonable travel and lunch expenses are reimbursed
  • We can help you obtain a valid First Aid certificate, if you do not already have one. First Aid certificates last for 3 years, whilst the CPR component is valid for 1 year.
