Change Please is an award-winning social enterprise operating in the homelessness sector. We want to see a world in which there is no more homelessness. We train and employ people experiencing homelessness as baristas, support with housing, the Living Wage, mental well-being and then into onward employment with our partners in the hospitality and catering sector.

 

We are looking for a senior fundraiser to join our team as a Head of Fundraising. Reporting directly to the Director of Impact and Fundraising, this is an exciting time of organisational growth and impact following Covid-19. The postholder will build the department and lead on funding strategy.

 

Following a successful year, we are looking for someone who can deliver on our organisation’s strategy and vision. The Head of Fundraising will recruit and lead a dedicated team of fundraisers and consultants to bring in funds to help us achieve our mission.

 

We want someone who can provide the vision, leadership and fundraising skills to achieve our targets and development programme. We want someone with substantial fundraising experience from Trusts and Foundations, excellent at building relationships, organising funding pipelines, reporting and securing funds from a variety of sources. Experience in more than one discipline will be an advantage.

 

Main Job responsibilities

  • Strategy and planning
    • Create and update fundraising strategy with Director of Impact to develop and achieve income targets
    • Maintain up-to-date list of prospects and opportunities for funding from a wide range of sources
    • Lead the annual fundraising planning process to produce effective strategies to achieve income targets
    • Identify new funding opportunities to achieve agree long-term goals and targets
  • Monitoring and evaluation
    • Develop and review monitoring and evaluation systems in line with funders’ and Change Please’s requirements
    • Maintain calendar and organise reporting requirements for funders
    • Writing clear reports for funders
  • Fundraising / writing
    • Write excellent and persuasive written applications and material
    • Develop new donors
    • Lead on new funding streams for Change Please
    • Oversee management/reporting of Trust income/expense programmes
    • Writing applications for awards relative to Change Please’s work
  • Budgeting and finance
    • Ensuring that the department is in budget
    • Produce effective project and funding budgets with fundraising team
    • Working with Finance Team and Treasurer
    • In cooperation with the executive director, lead the development of any long-term strategy to achieve
  • Management and people
    • Overseeing work of freelance fundraisers and fundraising team (to be recruited)
    • Managing workload and performance through regular one-to-one line management discussions
    • Plan and implement personal development programme for team members in all relevant skills
    • Undertake annual performance reviews

 

 

 

 

 

Person Spec

 

  • At least five years’ experience in a similar role
  • Demonstrable track record of Strategic Fundraising
  • Successful, significant and relevant achievement at management level in a comparable organisation
  • Experience of utilising the strength of an organisation brand for charity/business development
  • Proven track record of meeting challenging income targets
  • Proven ability to build, manage and develop key stakeholder, client and donor relationships
  • Experience of developing and implementing strategic and business plans
  • Proven track record in fundraising that has directly resulted in increased income for an organisation
  • Effective dissemination of information to large and diverse groups
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Track record of bringing innovative creative thinking and fresh ideas to an organisation and/ or its services
  • Commitment to Change Plesae’s work and beneficiary group
