Background to Change Please

Change Please is an award-winning social enterprise founded to address the growing rise of homelessness throughout the UK.

The average Londoner treats themselves to two cups every single day. Demand is rising – by the end of the decade the number of UK coffee outlets is set to hit 21,000, creating over 100,000 jobs. Despite this, the industry is facing a huge skills shortage, not just in the UK, but around the world.

We provide full barista training, jobs paying London Living Wage and support with housing, bank accounts and mental wellbeing.

The Role.

Change Please Foundation is a new charity set up to continue the mission and work of its award-winning partner Change Please CIC which launched in November 2015

We are a dedicated and positive team of people who work hard to improve the lives of the people we work with.

This role is an exciting new position for a Trusts and Foundations Manager to work as part of a small team that is continually striving to make a real difference to people’s lives.

Reporting directly to the Director of Impact and Fundraising, this is a vital role to support the growth of Change Please Foundation.

The role will primarily consist of researching, planning and writing fundraising bids to secure extra revenue for Change Please Foundation.

Pay: circa £37,000 - £40,000p.a. pro-rata for 3-4 days a week dependent on experience

There will also be opportunity to represent Change Please Foundation at networking and events.

Bid writing and reporting

To prepare and submit well-written, compelling and complete funding applications of the highest standard. To present compelling narratives, stories and cases based on Change Please’s success and model of intervention.

To integrate and effectively understand the work of Change Please including: Impact, Retail, Wholesale, Finance and Marketing.

The Trusts & Foundations Manager will assist the Director of Impact and Fundraising in delivering the Foundation’s fundraising campaigns by leading on fundraising from major Trusts & Foundations and Governmental sources.

To develop an excellent working relationship with the Board of Trustees and Development Board to maximise their networks, and to support the Director of Fundraising and senior volunteers to establish and strengthen Trustee and Director-level grant making trust relationships.

To establish productive relationships with senior Trust and Foundation staff.

To research prospective grant making trusts whose interests are in line with the charity’s aims and to prepare summary briefs for the Director of Impact and Fundraising.

To track and maintain an accurate timetable of acquired Trust funding, pending applications and prospects and to record funder interactions using the charity’s database.

To work with Change Please Foundation’s Treasurer and Finance Team to process and record Company Secretary & Finance Manager to process and record donations.

To prepare concise reports to funders on the impact of their giving.

To log and monitor the progress of agreed funder actions on Change Please Foundation’s database and to check in regularly against these with staff and senior volunteers.

To identify and manage resources, key directories and publications necessary to support this research. To write content for online and physical supporter materials, as required.

To support the Director of Impact and Fundraising with the overall campaign strategy, taking on other duties as required.

To attend events as a representative of Change Please Foundation as required.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

At least five years’ experience in trust fundraising for the voluntary sector, though not necessarily restricted to working for a homelessness charity.

A proven track record of drafting meaningful, successful proposals to Trusts and Foundations and Statutory

sources of at least six figures.

An expert understanding of the core principles of Trusts and Foundation Fundraising, with a focus on building long-term and sustained senior relationships with grant makers.

Experience of working in a small and growing team.

Interest and empathy with the aims and goals of Change Please Foundation.

Understanding of finances relating to writing funding applications (desirable)

Keen eye for detail and can complete tasks swiftly and with minimal supervision.

Track record in initiating, developing and sustaining long-term relationships with trustees and administrators from established grant making trusts and foundations and you will be able to empathise with the issues facing people affected by homelessness.
