Here at Charity Horizons we are delighted to be partnering with a National Education Charity whose primary aim is to advance the education of young people in mathematics. They do this by working with hundreds of volunteers across the UK to organise maths competitions promoting problem solving and teamwork and other mathematical enrichment activities. As a charity they are just about to embark on an exciting new period of strategic growth and are looking for talented, committed, ambitious and innovative individuals to help them on their journey, could this be you?
In your role as Volunteering Manager, you will work closely with volunteers and staff to organise and run events, develop and manage the volunteering process, support current volunteers and grow the volunteer base. The trust currently has a network of over 400 dedicated volunteers located across the UK, who are the lifeblood of their work, and enable them to organise a wide variety of events and activities to nurture the next generation of young mathematicians.
In your role as Volunteer Manager, you will work closely with staff and committees to develop, promote and maintain a wide range of volunteer opportunities and ensure an adequate supply of trained volunteers for all activities. You will manage the full volunteer recruitment process, including working creatively to advertise positions and attract suitable candidates, interviewing and matching applicants to opportunities. You will provide ongoing support and guidance for volunteers, acting as the first point of contact, listening to feedback, cultivating a positive and supportive atmosphere by recognising and rewarding volunteers. In addition, you will conduct performance evaluations, skills audits and assess progress as well as ensuring compliance with key safeguarding and health and safety policies.
To be considered for this role you will have strong communication skills, with previous experience in the recruitment, induction, motivation, support, and management of volunteers. You will have previous experience in organising and running events ideally both in-person and virtually. Strong interpersonal skills are a must, as well the ability to form strong working relationships across a range of stakeholders.
