London's Air Ambulance Charity

Every second of every day, London’s Air Ambulance delivers rapid response and cutting-edge medical care to save lives in the city. Critical injury can happen to anyone, at any time. It is the biggest killer of people under 40. We bring the hospital emergency department to the scene, delivering life-saving treatment to the 10 million people who live and work in London.

The service was established by a group of committed, determined and pioneering medics.  They saw that people were dying before they could get to hospital. They understood that every second counts. Today, treating patients before they get to hospital has been transformed into an established medical discipline. We have a reputation as a world leader of rapid response medical care.

We are recruiting a Finance Officer to oversee accounts payable transactions and processes, maintain the purchase ledger, setting up and maintaining filing systems, banking cash and other general duties to assist the finance team.

This role will be offering a salary between £34,000 - £36,000 per annum based on experience and knowledge.

 

Key objectives:

  • Oversee the accounts payable function of the organisation
  • Assisting with month-end and year-end processes
  • Manage the financial transactions relating to the retail function
  • Providing admin support to the finance team including ownership of training literature, system notes and process manuals

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Assist with the completion of month-end and year-end processes, including journals, balance sheet reconciliations, back-up pack and intercompany charges.
  • Responsible for the maintenance of the purchase ledger for each company including all related prepayments and accruals and allocation of costs to appropriate funds
  • Maintain the fixed asset register for each company including depreciation charges calculations and postings
  • Complete and post payroll journals into finance system
  • Produce payables VAT reports from the finance system, reviewing for accuracy to enable submission of VAT returns in timely manner
  • Being the point of contact for all purchases administration and queries and approvals
  • Manage and process the weekly payment run
  • Maintain the list and advise on the VAT coding for all purchase transactions and review all purchase transactions for correct coding on a monthly basis
  • Support the Finance Assistant with the processing of supplier payments, expenses claims and credit card processing
  • Support the Finance Assistant with processing of transactions relating to the retail function
  • Credit control including handling supplier queries and resolving disputes with the assistance of the Head of Finance where appropriate
  • Complete bank reconciliations
  • Responsible for finance system software updates relating to expenses, credit cards and the accounts payable modules
  • Compiling and maintaining training materials and procedure notes for payables and expenses and delivering expenses and payables training to the wider organization
  • Administration of finance related meetings included arranging and attending meetings, taking minutes, circulating documents, etc.
  • Provide cover for and assist the accounts receivable function as required

Candidates applying must have the following skills and experience:

  • Working towards an accountancy qualification (ACA, CIMA, ACCA or equivalent)
  • Excellent Excel skills
  • Strong IT skills
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to communicate complex financial data clearly to financial and non-financial audiences
  • Relevant and appropriate experience in finance and management accounting obtained in a complex organization
  • Experience in a similar role in the charity sector
