Job Description

With the opportunity to work flexibly from home as part of a small, agile and talented team, we'd love you to say 'hello' to Health Improvement Project Zanzibar or HIPZ. As the charity's first ever Fundraising Manager, you'll be in a unique position to influence and shape the fundraising strategy and deliver tangible growth and real impact on the ground in Zanzibar.

A paradise holiday island of white sandy beaches, azure sky and sea, coral reefs, exotic spices and endless sunsets. Sadly, the daily struggle for Zanzibar's local residents is completely different with 1 in 5 babies dying before the age of 5 and mothers dying in childbirth too often. HIPZ has been providing maternity care and saving lives since 2006; managing two hospitals, employing a small in-country staff team and funding qualified volunteer doctors to deliver medical care and training for local staff.

It's a sustainable model that works and HIPZ is now in a position to recruit their first Fundraising Manager to build on existing success with major donors, corporates and trusts. You'll have experience across a range of relationship-led income streams and a strong track record forging high-value, creative partnerships at five and six figure level; ideally for an international development charity.

A strategic outlook will help you to make decisions on where time, effort and resource is best placed. You'll also still enjoy the thrill of rolling your sleeves up and making the ask as the charity's sole fundraiser. There are realistic targets in place and a highly-skilled, dedicated and receptive team to work with. As resident fundraising expert, you'll influence and advise at Board level to ensure the charity is in the best possible place to increase income and, ultimately, save even more lives.

£35-38k FTE, 4 days per week (pro rata £28-30,400)

Home-based with a flexible, life and family-friendly culture. As a key member of the management team, you’ll be expected to attend quarterly Trustee Meetings in Bristol and travel to meet the needs of the role across the UK.  You will also be offered the opportunity to visit the HIPZ team and hospitals in Zanzibar.
