ReachOut's mission is to mentor young people to grow in character and attainment. Young people from disadvantage backgrounds can experience low confidence, low aspirations and low attainment - they are much less likely than their peers to achieve their full academic, career and personal potential. This organisation, which initially started as an after school club in 1994, is now the largest mentoring charity in the UK, with thousands of young people, volunteer mentors, alumni, ambassadors, fundraisers, teachers and support staff.
In your role as Fundraising Officer you will be responsible for managing several existing trust relationships, as well as engaging new trusts and foundations to grow the funder portfolio. You will be tasked with writing funding applications, providing excellent relationship management and stewardship and researching and maintaining a consistently strong pipeline of new prospects. You will also have the opportunity to manage a small portfolio of corporate partnerships, including day-to-day relationship management, employee volunteering and fundraising activities.
The ideal candidate will have strong trusts and foundations fundraising experience, a successful track record of generating income and the ability to communicate and relate effectively with people at all levels. It is very important to ReachOut that you be a strong team player, eager to work in collaboration with others but also able to take initiative and operate independently when needed. You must be willing to travel to various locations in London to attend meetings, projects and events and to occasionally work flexible hours when necessary.
