Do you want to get behind the scenes of one of Child org’s biggest income generators to learn about volunteer recruitment and communications? This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a small, fast-growing international development organisation with a unique approach to income generation. You, our new Charity Concierge Recruitment Intern, will be joining the Enterprise Team as they begin their volunteer recruitment drive for Charity Concierge 2020. You will play an integral role in advertising the range of volunteer opportunities available with Charity Concierge, recruiting enthusiastic and reliable volunteers, and providing registered volunteers with a smooth on-boarding process (both directly and behind the scenes).
As Charity Concierge Recruitment Intern, you will work closely alongside the Spectacular Events Project Manager to fulfil a diverse range of tasks related to volunteer recruitment & management. These are likely to include:
- Creating and curating engaging content to advertise volunteer opportunities with charity concierge.
- Advertising volunteer opportunities with Charity Concierge using a variety of platforms and strategies to meet the Enterprise Team’s recruitment targets.
- Maintaining an up-to-date record of Charity Concierge volunteers using CiviCRM.
- Keeping the Charity Concierge website up-to-date.
- Creating and scheduling emails to send to the Charity Concierge Pool and registered volunteers.
- Collecting essential information from registered volunteers and creating their ID forms.
- Managing the Charity Concierge inbox, responding to enquiries and passing on to a member of the Enterprise Team where necessary.
This will be an exciting and challenging job for a passionate self-starter looking to develop a range of key skills and gain experience within the charity sector.
You will have an interest in festivals and event management, with a curiosity for volunteer best practice and recruitment strategies.
You enjoy communicating with others, whether over the phone, by email, or on social media. You get a buzz from convincing people to register for fun and impactful volunteer opportunities.
You are the kind of person to whom a day that could include everything from creating marketing content, updating spreadsheets and databases, calling volunteers, and giving your all at a team quiz sounds ideal.
You will be keen to learn new skills and develop the ones you already have. There will be lots to learn over the course of three months and much of this will be self-directed.
You are the kind of person who wants to have an impact, who likes to throw themselves into something. There is no room for someone who looks forward to 5pm arriving so they can leave. We don’t want you to stay after 5pm very often, but we want you to be unhappy about that.
You'll be really good at
This role involves communicating with lots of different people over the phone, in person, and using social media and emails. We need someone in our team who is able to communicate clearly and passionately about what we do, and read and understand the people they meet. The confidence to pick up the phone or speak to a huge range of people is vital.
2. Spreadsheet wizardry
This role involves using Google Sheets and our online CRM system to manage volunteer data, track recruitment targets, and communicate with our Charity Concierge Pool and volunteers. Confidence in working with databases and spreadsheets will be hugely beneficial, as will a willingness to learn new technical skills quickly and with enthusiasm.
3. Using social media
Using social media to promote volunteer opportunities with Charity Concierge is going to be a huge part of your role. We need someone who knows how to create engaging social media posts, use paid advertising tools, and connect with different communities of people online. If you can show us how to use social media more effectively - even better!
You will have the support of the whole team behind you, because that’s how we work at Child org. You will also work closely alongside the Spectacular Events Project Manager, who will outline your keys areas of focus and support you in meeting your goals. However, we are a small charity and there’s a huge amount to do. This means we need someone who is able to work proactively and under their own initiative, and who thrives on the chance to prove what they can really do.
There’s no required experience for this role, though some experience in marketing and communications would be a huge plus! All you need is the skills outlined above and a willingness to work hard and be flexible.
