Child Protection & Community Advocates

Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, South East (On-site)
£20,198 per annum pro rata
Job description

Coram Voice exists to enable and equip children and young people to hold the system to account, to challenge and support it to do its job properly and to uphold the rights of children and young people to actively participate in shaping their own lives.

Coram Voice has been commissioned to provide the independent advocacy service for looked after children, children involved in child protection processes; children in need and care leavers supported by Milton Keynes Council. We are looking for a number of advocates to join our established national team and to form a dedicated team in Milton Keynes. Our Milton Keynes team will be staffed to maximise the service’s resilience and flexibility and we are offering opportunities to take up these roles on a part time or full time basis.

Advocates will support children and young people in a range of settings and locations within and outside the Milton Keynes borders. Applicants will therefore need to work with a degree of flexibility to accommodate short notice referrals and changing circumstances which occur in children’s lives. The post will be home based and this will be discussed further at interview.

Coram Voice is looking for a wide variety of people to take on our roles, however we would particularly welcome applications from care leavers or individuals with experience of being ‘looked after’ by the state. We are also actively encouraging applicants from Asian, African and Caribbean backgrounds to join our staff and freelance pool. We recognise we are a predominantly white workforce and are genuinely committed to encouraging candidates from diverse communities in order to improve the services to the children and young people we help.
