Job description

CAFS (Children & Families Staffordshire) is a charity which supports families who are going through a difficult time. Trained and supported volunteer Befrienders support families by providing one to one family support in the home - offering practical and emotional support.

After completing our 4 day induction course, you will be carefully matched with a family and will visit that family regularly for a few hours per week in order to offer support.  This support may be in the form of:  helping to build confidence and self esteem, being a listening ear, talking through parenting issues, helping with budgeting or healthy lifestyles etc.

We are looking for volunteers from all walks of life. The only qualifications we require are: you understand the challenges of being a parent; you are non-judgmental; you have a few hours per week to spare.

Befrienders will be able to claim back their expenses such as telephone calls, travel expenses etc. Training will be provided and Befrienders will be supported throughout their volunteering.  The cost of a criminal records check (DBS) will be met by CAFS.
