We’re CHIPS – Christian peacemakers. For over 50 years, we've been working with communities around the world to help them build sustainable futures free from violence and division.
Inspired by the life of Jesus, we seek to practice collaborative and practical peacemaking. Our work is rooted in Christian teaching and guided by four core principles; we go where we are invited, we live at the heart of conflict, we stay for the long term and, as our strap-line says, we take sides. Both sides.
In a world of conflict and division, we have an ambitious vision to expand our peacemaking work and increase our influence both in the UK and internationally. We are planning further peacemaking projects and to share with others the skills and experience we have gained over the last 50 years.
We are a small, friendly team, deeply committed to our work and the cause of peace and are recruiting a Marketing and Communications Manager to help develop and implement the communications and marketing plans that will drive and support our expansion.
You will help us to communicate clearly and confidently how CHIPS is bringing sustainable peace to communities, using compelling communications and storytelling across different channels to inspire individuals, churches and partner organisations to engage with our vision and our work, and to support us prayerfully and financially.
In this key role, Marketing and Communications Manager will work closely with our Director and our peacemaking teams on the ground to manage and develop an engaging programme of communications and marketing activities.
he role offers flexibility, with a mix of home and office working and flexible working hours to be agreed with the role-holder, equivalent to 2-3 days, or 14-21 hours per week.
Who we are looking for
This role suits someone who is already or wants to be an all-rounder, either with experience of using the full marketing communications mix, or a solid foundation of managing key channels and a strong interest in building your experience in others.
- We are seeking a creative, highly-motivated and flexible communicator who also has the technical skills (or motivation to learn them) to produce engaging and compelling content across a wide range of channels.
- You will be a strong writer, able to capture themes and stories and make them appeal to the widest possible range of supporters through the use of a broad range of formats. You will also have a good working knowledge of digital marketing, understanding how to use social media and other digital channels to reach a wide audience and build engagement and support.
- You will have the credibility that allows you to collaborate well with a wide variety of stakeholders, which in our case includes everyone from busy youth workers on the ground to senior-level trustees and representatives from local churches. This is an ideal opportunity for someone seeking a role where they can use their skills and experience in a setting where they can influence an organisation’s broader development.
- You will thrive working in a Christian environment where we pray regularly and study and reflect on the theological foundations to our peacemaking. You will have respect for our Christian values and ethos and be in sympathy with our organisational aims, with an understanding of the UK church and charity landscape.
There is a genuine occupational requirement for this role to be filled by a Christian.
We are a small and team-oriented organisation where everyone pitches in to help get things done and you would gain satisfaction from seeing a charity increase significantly its engagement, support and impact.
We particularly welcome applications from the South London and Black & minority ethnic communities as these are currently under-represented within our central office team.
