About the role

Role Context and purpose

The Financial Analyst works closely with the wider Christian Aid (CA) Finance function to contribute to maintaining a strong control environment and to meet external financial compliance and reporting commitments.

Role purpose:

Support Country Offices with record keeping

-Communicate changes to Financial accounting to Country Offices as appropriate

-Manage offline activities to ensure all transactions are accounted for

Key Deliverables

-Support and facilitate the hand over from external consultants

-Maintain and monitor records for Country Offices

-Reconciliation and substantiation to trial balances

-Provide support and guidance in finance matters to country offices

-Oversee GL posting to ensure compliance to financial control policies and procedures

-Support CA Group year-end audit process

-Maintain and regularly communicate CA policies and procedures

-Perform ad-hoc tasks and take on responsibility as required

About you

Applied skills/knowledge and expertise

Essential

-Part qualified or committed to becoming a Qualified Accountant

-Good communication skills to work effectively with finance and non-finance staff in London and internationally

-Ability to indirectly manage peers and internationally based finance teams

-Ability to explain complex financial issues to non-financial staff

-Knowledge of Microsoft Office or similar

-Strong analytical skills and able to review financial information for consistency and accuracy.

Desirable

-Foreign language skills - French/Spanish

-Knowledge of the Charity SORP and related statutory reporting requirements

-Experience of dealing with the collection of financial reports from international branches and subsidiaries

-Experience of working on accounting changes and systems migration, ideally with country offices

-Able to provide training on financial matters

-Experience of reviewing and updating policies and procedures

This role requires applicants to have the right to work in the country where this position is based.

From 1 July 2021, the process for completing right to work checks has changed and we can no longer accept EU passports or ID cards as valid proof of right to work, with the exception of Irish citizens.

All successful candidates will require either a Basic or Enhanced Disclosure Barring Service certificate (DBS) and a Counter Terrorism Sanction check as part of your clearance for commencing your role with us. Information will be forwarded to you by the HR team with your offer.
