About the role

The Head of Humanitarian Programme Policy, Practice and Advocacy is a senior position that strategically manages Christian Aid's humanitarian programme policy and advocacy work. As a driver of strategic change, s/he will be responsible for ensuring that staff working on humanitarian issues receive support to develop the quality and impact of Christian Aid's humanitarian work. A key part of this will be enabling the humanitarian division and other staff in Christian Aid to develop and deliver public policy and advocacy that brings about positive change in humanitarian action and practice and thus improvements to the lives of poor people.

About you

You will have significant knowledge of humanitarian issues and best practice in humanitarian action, and excellent understanding of the humanitarian donor funding environment and experience of successfully applying for institutional donor funds. You will be self-motivated with personal resilience and the ability to sustain performance. You will have a high level of oral and written communication skills; a proven ability to negotiate, influence and persuade others, including developing and maintaining successful working relationships with a range of colleagues and contacts at senior and junior levels; and experience of advocacy work and policy development.
