Christian Aid has recently launched its new organisational strategy and Fundraising & Supporter Engagement Strategic Plan. This is a wonderful opportunity to help develop and implement sector-leading partnerships which will inspire more people to leave Christian Aid a gift in their Will. As Legacy Partnerships Specialist, you will be responsible for developing an effective legacy partnerships strategy, enhancing our reach and impact. Of particular importance will be to transform our relationships with our churches to enable both Christian Aid and the churches to maximise legacy income.
You will be a pivotal member of the Legacies and Fundraising & Supporter Engagement management teams, and the wider CA.
About the role
Legacies are Christian Aid's largest source of income, are one of our key fundraising priorities and have great potential to grow further. This new role, a leader within the Christian Aid Legacies team, will grow our legacy income by developing partnerships with our sponsoring and other partner churches, with solicitors and more widely across and beyond the sector to maximise the amazing potential legacies have. The forming and expanding of partnerships with organisations and churches is a key component of a sector leading legacy strategy that you'll need to help develop and implement, increasing the number of people who leave Christian Aid a gift in their will while maximising the impact of the brilliant bequests from our legators.
Influencing key stakeholders within and outside Christian Aid, this role will increase legacy giving by raising the profile of legacies across Christian Aid making everyone a legacy fundraiser. They will need to have excellent communication, influencing and negotiating skills and be passionate about legacies. Working closely with the Legacy team and the Head of Marketing and Fundraising, they will develop sector leading partnerships to promote the opportunity to leave a legacy gift. By doing so they will help to lead a step change in legacy income in order to further Christian Aid's mission to create a world where everyone can life a full life, free from poverty and enhance our ability to deliver our 2019 - 2026 Global Strategy “Standing Together”. .
You are an inspirational team player who can engage with stakeholders and motivate external partners, staff and volunteers. You will need to have excellent communication, influencing and negotiating skills.
-In depth knowledge (both practical and academic) and a current and sophisticated understanding of legacies
-Knowledge of the church and denominational structure preferred.
-Experience of budget management
-Proficient in financial and supporter data analysis
-Knowledge and understanding of general leadership and management principles and best practice
-Graduate equivalent with ideally a professional qualification
-Appreciation of the possible issues/challenges facing a leading UK charity
-Extensive experience, and a proven track record, in partnership roles, ideally legacies.
-Significant experience in the development of partnerships in a variety of organisations.
-Experience of working in high calibre teams and cross-organisational functions.
