About us

Christian Aid has recently launched its new organisational strategy and Fundraising & Supporter Engagement Strategic Plan. This is a wonderful opportunity to help transform the growth and impact of which will inspire more people to leave Christian Aid a gift in their Will. As Legacy Training Specialist, you will be responsible for developing an effective training programme that builds and develops a legacy fluent culture across Christian Aid. Of particular importance will be to inspire staff, trustees and volunteers to have the confidence and desire to talk about legacies to enable Christian Aid to maximise legacy income. This role reports to the Legacy Marketing Manager.

You will be a pivotal member of the Legacies and Fundraising & Supporter Engagement teams, and the wider CA.

About the role

Legacies are Christian Aid's largest source of income, are one of our key fundraising priorities and have great potential to grow further. This new role, a leader within the Christian Aid Legacies team, will grow our legacy income by inspiring, training and equipping people across Christian Aid, at all levels to feel confident and motivated to speak about legacies. The training and equipping staff and volunteers is a key component of a sector leading legacy strategy that you'll need to help develop and implement, increasing the number of people who leave Christian Aid a gift in their Will while maximising the impact of the brilliant bequests from our legators.

The post holder will need to have excellent presentation skills and be hugely passionate about legacies. Working closely with the whole of the legacy team, they will develop and deliver an inspiring legacy training plan, along with associated materials and, where appropriate, events. By doing so they will help to lead a step change in legacy income in order to further Christian Aid's mission to create a world where everyone can life a full life, free from poverty and enhance our ability to deliver our 2019 - 2026 Global Strategy “Standing Together”.

About you

You are an inspirational team player who can engage with stakeholders and motivate external partners, staff and volunteers. You will need to have excellent communication, influencing and negotiating skills.

Knowledge:

-In depth knowledge (both practical and academic) and a current and sophisticated understanding of legacies

-Knowledge of the church and denominational structure preferred.

-Understanding of latest training and engagement theory and practice.

-Graduate equivalent with ideally a professional qualification

-Appreciation of the possible issues/challenges facing a leading UK charity

Experience:

-Extensive experience, and a proven task record, in training and inspirational roles, ideally legacies.

-Significant experience in the development of training materials in a variety of organisations.

-Experience of working in high calible teams and cross-organisational functions.

Skills & attributes

-Proven skill in planning, complex problem solving, negotiating and influencing at senior levels within an organisation.

-Excellent organisation and prioritisation skills, able to adapt to changing workloads and ensuring key deadlines are met

-Excellent presentational and communication skills, both verbal and written

-Ability to establish and retain strong working relationships with key stakeholders, both internal and external

-Strong influencing and negotiation skills

-Organised approach to project based work

-IT literate and proficient in Microsoft Office - includes database skills and Microsoft Word and Excel

-Ambition, drive, energy and enthusiasm to inspire partners in this critical area - future-proofing vital income streams
