About the role

This role manages the public engagement, PR and media relations team for Christian Aid ensuring all messages are on brand and consistent with our fundraising, marketing and communication strategies and have impact across a range of channels, including social media and public engagement events. The Media & Public Engagement Manager works with colleagues across fundraising & supporter engagement (FSE), policy, public affairs and campaigns (PPC) and international to deliver stand-out profile-raising media and public engagement activity, particularly during key moments such as Christian Aid Week and Christmas.

About you

You will be an experienced media and PR professional and leader that has the expertise and passion needed to deliver innovative media activity that raise the profile of Christian Aid. You will have a strong track record of achieving media, PR and public engagement goals, and great relationships with journalists and influencers. You will have the tenacity and influencing skills to work with colleagues across the organisation to drive through compelling stories that make the great work of Christian Aid front page news and make our supporters proud to be part of this movement for change. You'll have that rare mix of being extremely organised and diligent yet highly creative. You'll be able to motivate teams to seek ambitious coverage for Christian Aid's work and draw in new audiences, engaging the public and our supporters in innovative ways.

This role could be home-based or based in London Office with a hybrid working arrangement. Home base salary will be £48,932 and if based in London, the salary would be £53,185 London Allowance inclusive.

This role requires applicants to have the right to work in the country where this position is based.

From 1 July 2021, the process for completing right to work checks has changed and we can no longer accept EU passports or ID cards as valid proof of right to work, with the exception of Irish citizens.

There are now two types of right to work checks: a manual check and an online check. A manual check can be completed against relevant documentation as outlined by the Home Office. An online check can be completed if you hold digital proof of your immigration status in the UK. We will require your share code and date of birth to carry out this check. Please see Government website for more information on acceptable documents.

All successful candidates will require either a Basic or Enhanced Disclosure Barring Service certificate (DBS) and a Counter Terrorism Sanction check as part of your clearance for commencing your role with us. Information will be forwarded to you by the HR team with your offer.
