About the role

This is a thought leadership role, providing the strategic direction and a coherent framing for Christian Aid's work poverty and inequality. The role engages cross-organisationally, through strategic advisory to our policy and campaigns (specifically our two corporate priority campaigns on economic justice and climate justice), and by providing framing, and collaborating to strengthen ways of understanding, and responding to, poverty and inequality within our country programmes.

This role will develop a systematic approach which enables Christian Aid to engage with key external frameworks, debates and analysis on poverty and inequality; and identify which and how these ideas best translate into practice through our programme, policy, advocacy and campaigning work.

Essential Experience;

-A post-graduate qualification (or equivalent experience) in a relevant discipline

-Excellent knowledge of the current academic/policy debates around poverty and inequality

-Extensive practical (both programmatic) experience of working on poverty issues in development,

-Proven ability to conduct policy research and use evidence to develop public policy positions

-Experience of working in an advisory role, encouraging others to work in different ways or integrate new concepts into their practice

-Experience of planning and leading cross-organisational projects

-Excellent facilitation skills, ability to promote critical thinking and reflective practice and encourage learning
