About the role

The Business Operations, Improvement and Digital Division is often described as the 'engine room' of FSE department and has several streams of activity designed to provide support in planning and budgeting, the provision of business insight, innovation, digital tools and supplier management for effective fundraising, processing of income, deployment of volunteers, and development of a CRM system.

This is a new post. The Senior Business Improvement Officer leads on the efficient and effective functioning of the FSE department to meet its strategic objectives through the continuous improvement of systems and processes. This will allow us to constantly challenge and improve how we do business, including - but not limited to - streamlining processes, reporting and accountability, finding new and innovative solutions, managing our key suppliers to enable better value for money.

Of fundamental importance will be working to find ways to improve and streamline our processes to ensure more efficient operations - leading to a more satisfied and productive FSE team. With careful attention to change management of our ways of working, so that positive change is embedded in the department.

Data is at the heart of the FSE strategy, and this post-holder will, in collaboration with the Data Strategy Lead and reporting teams, scrutinise how we make the most of our data to ensure we use it to deliver continuous improvement and greater impact.

They will also lead on managing key third-party suppliers, and work in collaboration with procurement and internal stakeholders to support these processes, for example the relationship with our fulfilment and warehousing supplier, and Royal Mail.

About you

You'll have bags of enthusiasm, initiative, and excellent problem solving and collaboration skills. You'll exhibit a strong desire to learn and share knowledge with colleagues and are willing to adapt your approach to different teams (as required). You can motivate others outside your immediate workgroup and have an infectious enthusiasm.

You will be flexible in your approach and provide practical guidance for teams across the department. Initiative and judgement required on a daily basis. Ability to work independently or as part of a team - both in person or as part of a virtual team. Takes ownership for own workload and development.

Strong analytical skills. Ability to identify, gather and analyse complex and often incomplete information; to design and test solutions to problems that colleagues may not even know exist; to realise opportunities for greater efficiencies.

Demonstrable ability to identify issues/problems early and takes ownership of resolving them, including seeking advice and support from others when required.

You will have commercial acumen with relevant experience, excellent data knowledge, and understand the importance of processes to deliver quality and performance.

This role requires applicants to have the right to work in the country where this position is based.

From 1 July 2021, the process for completing right to work checks has changed and we can no longer accept EU passports or ID cards as valid proof of right to work, with the exception of Irish citizens.
