Job description
About us

Christian Aid exists to create a world where everyone can live a full life, free from poverty. We are a global movement of people, churches and local organisations who passionately champion dignity, equality and justice worldwide. We are the changemakers, the peacemakers, the mighty of heart.

About the role

Volunteers are the bedrock of our sponsoring churches, and that means they play an important role at Christian Aid too. This is your chance to make real difference at Christian Aid by joining our newly expanded Volunteering team in one of three news roles that will deliver a volunteer experience that is rich, rewarding and impactful.

Working with colleagues across the UK, you'll lead on the recruitment and welcome of new volunteers, matching supporters to the roles that make the best use of their time, skills and interests. You'll also advise and train others on how best to work with volunteers and support decision-makers to design our volunteering programmes in line with best practice.

About you

We're looking for someone with significant experience of working with volunteers - you'll know what makes a great volunteer experience and can demonstrate how you've achieved this in other roles. You'll also have supported others to work with volunteers.

Excellent communication skills will be vital in this role, as you liaise with a range of colleagues and supporters around the UK and often via digital means, such as phone, email or video calls. Being home-based means that you'll also need to be able to work independently, prioritising tasks and managing your workload to meet tight deadlines.

And of course, you'll need a good understanding of church communities and structures, Christian Aid's key audience, so that you'll know how best to motivate and engage these potential volunteers to join us.

If this sounds like it could be you, why not share your skills with Christian Aid to recruit new volunteers, retain our current volunteers and grow our movement for change?

You can expect a wide range of rewards and benefits, including a generous holiday allowance, and flexibility that will ensure you enjoy a good work/life balance.

If you have any questions about the role, please contact Stacy Cannon, UK Volunteering Manager, at [email protected]
