Safeguarding is of fundamental importance to the work of the RSCM at every level, so this is a vital role which involves working collaboratively with staff and volunteers across the UK to ensure safeguarding policies and procedures are implemented and kept under review, keeping up to date with legislation and best practice.
You will act as the RSCM's Lead Recruiter through 31:8 for processing DBS applications, receiving updates and deciding levels of clearance required for staff and volunteers including for events and courses.
Thee will be a high degree of liaison with Trustees, management and staff as well as the need to network with other agencies as appropriate.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Programme Manager to help us deliver missional projects aligned with our Refreshed Diocesan Strategy. The strategy includes several bold outcomes such as doubling the number of young people choosing to attend worship regularly and having 3% of total population in the diocese regularly attending our churches.

The good news is that we have just received funding for a 3-year Youth Hubs Pilot project, to define and evaluate an innovative approach to mission and evangelism with young people in a rural context, researching models for growing young disciples with the support of key research partners. Our goal is to bring about a step-change in youth ministry for the Diocese of Hereford and create a replicable model for reaching young people with the gospel in a rural context.

Some of the key responsibilities:
- Leading on strategically planned engagement and growth across all our communications audiences, channels and initiatives. Including defined communications moments, brand engagement, UK advocacy communications and cross departmental campaigns.
- Own War Child UK’s voice and brand, providing consistency in tone and messaging across all channels and ensuring that our voice and brand is engaging to our wide range of audiences
- Lead on creating and assessing opportunities for cross departmental communications campaigns to increase fundraising and/or brand awareness, including overarching narratives and key campaigns each year
- To provide first-rate line management to the Communications & Content team and line manage the Marketing Lead and PR Manager. You will model excellence in management that will result in the team thriving in their roles, with high standards of performance and behavior, and team members that are developed to achieve their best, whilst maintaining strong wellbeing. As a Head of, you will model these high standards of performance and behavior to support the Fundraising Engagement Director and other functions across War Child UK.
- Use your experience to provide insight and recommendations to the Fundraising Engagement Director and War Child UK CEO when communications decisions are needed
- In most instances you will be accountable for the successful delivery of campaigns led by others in your team, in some instances – including cross departmental communications campaigns - you will lead on end to end delivery
You will be:
- Strategic, with experience of designing and delivering communications strategies across a wide portfolio
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a high degree of emotional intelligence to deal with a variety and internal and external stakeholders and the ability to build effective working relationships at all levels.
- A diverse knowledge of communications delivery, with the ability to transfer this knowledge and adapt your experience to different audiences, objectives and campaigns
- Experience of team resource and people management and able to delegate tasks in a clear and concise manner.
- A clear understanding of the importance of brand behaviour and having a strong tone of voice. You are able to use this to instil ways of working across an organisation to achieve success
- Able to set up and manage a successful press function
- Experience of policy and advocacy initiatives, delivering public facing advocacy campaigns and getting traction in the media
- Experience of humanitarian emergencies and managing a media responses to work for a UK market.

Internal Communications Officer
Hybrid Working: Connexional Team staff based at Methodist Church House have a hybrid work pattern which is currently 2 days in the office, and 3 days remote.
About the Role
We are looking to appoint an Internal Communications Officer who will play a critical role in developing and shaping the organisation’s internal communications for the staff of the Connexional Team.
The post holder will work closely with Senior Managers to ensure that the Team’s values, mission and updates are effectively communicated to all Team members working across several sites and from home, to foster a cohesive and motivated work environment.

fosters a sense of community, aligned with the Church’s mission and values to create an engaged and informed Connexional Team.
In this crucial role, the Internal Communications Officer will be responsible for establishing and managing channels for staff feedback to leadership, producing engaging content for various channels, and organising and delivering internal events.
The successful applicant will also provide support and training for staff on communication tools and practices, encourage staff to be ambassadors of the Church, and plan and approve regular communications to be sent out to employees including staff newsletters and newsletters from Team members.
About You
The post holder will have at least three years’ experience of working with an internal communications context within an organisation and will have the ability to develop and implement comprehensive internal communications strategies that align with the organisation’s values.
You will be able to articulate messages clearly and effectively, both in writing and verbally, that are tailored to various internal audiences. Exceptional writing, editing and proof-reading skills for a range of communication channels are a must for this role.
You will also have strong organisational skills with the ability to lead projects, work collaboratively and be proficient in digital communication tools and platforms.
The successful applicant will have strong interpersonal and listening skills with experience in building relationships with key internal stakeholders.
You will also have the ability to develop a deep understanding of the Methodist Church’s mission, values, and objectives to ensure alignment in all communications.

Head of Property

The Head of Property is a crucial and pivotal role at the Diocese, as you will lead the strategic management of the Diocese’s assets, taking responsibility for maximising income and capital returns from assets, including property development on investment land and buildings.
Reporting to the Diocesan Secretary, you will oversee the management of the Diocese’s housing and the Glebe estate. You will ensure good quality clergy accommodation through strategic maintenance and planned enhancements, along with the sale, purchase and development of housing stock and glebe land as required.
Managing the Property Services Team, which oversees the management of all clergy and other housing within the Diocese, you will ensure maintenance and improvements are performed within agreed timeframes and budgets and provide an excellent and friendly service to clergy and their household. In addition, you will ensure maximised rental income from vacant housing and glebe land which is a key income stream for the Diocese.
As Head of Property, you will offer support to parishes and protect their interests by advising on decision making regarding their buildings, with a particular focus on enhancing utilisation and value, especially for church halls. You will also represent, protect and advance the interests of PCCs, Incumbents and Churchwardens, by partnering with them to provide high-level advice to parishes on the effective management of property matters, particularly in cases where the Diocese acts as custodian trustee on their behalf.
As a key member of the Diocesan Office and Senior Management Team (SMT), Diocesan Finance & Assets Committee, Diocesan Advisory Committee and Property Advisory Group, you will manage the property budget, taking part in budget reviews and budget setting in partnership with the Director of Finance and Finance & Assets Committee.
Professionally qualified with a relevant qualification and with significant demonstrable post qualification experience in a similar role, perhaps as a surveyor, you should have proven leadership experience with a focus on strategic property development and resource planning.
With experience of working in the property sector, ideally in asset management, residential property management and landlord and tenant relations, you should have a track record of driving maximum return from property and/or land assets, including experience of property disposals and purchases. Able to maximise income, you should also be adept at planning, managing and reviewing substantial budgets and exercising strict financial controls in a property environment.
Sympathetic to the overall Christian mission of the Church of England, including the Diocese’s schools, church communities and buildings, you should be prepared and able to travel regularly throughout the Diocese.
Previous experience with Charities or Not-for-Profit organisations is desirable but not essential.
The Housing and Land assets of the Diocese of Canterbury comprises operational and investment properties, almost all of which consist of ministry housing stock and a small amount of Glebe Land. Assets include circa 170 parsonage houses, the majority of which are occupied by clergy, establishing a unique relationship between the Diocese and church leaders. A minority of the stock (around 50 properties) which are intended for ministry but not currently used, generate substantial rental income. Notably, recent years have seen the move to ensure that we have the right properties in the right places for ministry as well as exploring development opportunities on existing properties that are due to be reviewed, sold or replaced.

The aim is to grow a secondary school ministry by enhancing current relationships in schools and developing new ones. Friends of the Holy Land are looking for an energetic, dedicated individual to join our fast-moving, growing charity.
Friends of the Holy Land has a small network of volunteer supporters around the country and an expanding number of financial donors. This new role will be responsible for communicating with these two communities, with a focus on preparing monthly emails to supporters, monitoring and moderating social media accounts, liaising with external partners to deliver external communications, developing donor stewardship and growing our volunteer network.
The role will also be required to help with regular office duties and will need to be familiar with all aspects of administrative support for the operational success of the charity. You will need to be comfortable working in a faith-based organisation, talking to supporters across the UK and with our partners in the Holy Land, and be competent in creating communications.
Essential Qualifications and Skills
- Office experience
- Must have strong computer skills using Microsoft office (ideally Office 365). CRM training will be provided as necessary

Tyndale House is a renowned institute for biblical studies and possesses one of the finest libraries for biblical research in the world. Working collaboratively across our small Communications and Development team, the post holder will develop, deliver and co-ordinate an integrated and effective marketing and communications plan. The successful candidate will have an established track record of marketing and communications work, including digital and social media, and an ability to write and edit copy for different audiences.
