We are seeking an HR and Administration Officer to join our team, working closely across our organisation and our Senior Leadership Team to provide HR support, embedding policy and excellent practice in a way that strengthens our culture and upholds our core values.
This is a varied role that will suit a HR generalist, providing support and advice on the full range of activities that form the employee life cycle. This includes recruitment and onboarding of new staff, ensuring our policies represent best practice and that they are embedded in the culture of CUF, liaising with payroll, maintenance of the staff handbook, promoting personal development, ensuring our online HR software is used to its full capability, ensuring our appraisal process is robust and a range of other HR tasks.
The role will be key in our ambition to promote a positive working environment with good wellbeing and personal development opportunities for our team.
This role will also include other administrative tasks and project work to support our Senior Leadership Team.

Role Description Office Coordinator
This is a brand new role that would suit an organised and detail oriented individual who
wishes to use these skills to support vulnerable young people across Guildford Borough.
What would I be doing?
The role of Office Coordinator is essential to the efficient and effective day-to-day work of the organisation, ensuring the team are well equipped to successfully carry out their roles and helping the organisation to support the optimum number of young people to the highest possible quality. Whilst you will have specific areas of responsibility (see below), you will also be expected to contribute towards the wider vision of Matrix Trust, as appropriate.
What do we expect from you?
You will be expected to maintain the systems and processes currently in place, supporting the
Board of Trustees, SLT and wider team to deliver their roles effectively. The post holder will be hard-working, effective at managing a large and varied workload and a team player. There are two key areas of responsibility:
1) Office and Building Support
Maintain and, where necessary improve, office systems.
Proactively ensure the building is clean, tidy and maintained to a high standard, liaising with SLT and external contractors where necessary to achieve this.
Proactively purchase and restock office, cleaning and hygiene resources, ensuring a ready supply at all times.
Proactively purchase and restock staff refreshments, ensuring a ready supply at all times.
Proactively ensure physical and digital notice boards are kept up-to-date.
Proactively ensure physical and digital team calendars are kept up-to-date.
Support the team in utilising the GSuite and printing facilities.
Act as the first point of contact for all internal and external queries, ensuring that emails, phone messages and postal enquiries are responded to promptly.
Support the Head of Operations in their role as Fire Marshall, Health and Safety Officer, and GDPR lead.
Prepare rooms for team meetings and events, as required.
Support the wider team with occasional administrative tasks, as required.
Provide occasional administrative support to the Board of Trustees and SLT, as required.
2) Human Resources Support
Utilising our HR database, maintain accurate, organised and confidential HR records.
Liaising with Line Managers, administer the annual leave and sickness process.
Liaising with the Designated Safeguarding Lead, administer the DBS process.
Support SLT by administering the recruitment and induction processes.
Support SLT by administering the team performance processes, including probations and appraisals.
Coordinate and book staff training, ensuring all regulatory requirements are met.
Person Specification Administrative Assistant
ESSENTIAL
Able to follow instructions and work well within pre-set boundaries.
Confident using own initiative and working independently.
Experience of administering office and operational systems.
Experience of administering HR processes.
Experience liaising with external contractors and organisations.
Excellent phone manner.
Highly organised and logical, with an eye for detail.
Comfortable working within a fast-paced environment, able to prioritise and respond flexibly to a mixture of needs as they arise.
Approachable and able to relate to staff, volunteers and other Matrix stakeholders in a friendly and professional manner.
A fast learner and problem solver, with a ‘can do’ attitude.
Excellent IT skills.
Educated to A Level (or equivalent), with a minimum of grade C in English and Maths GCSE.
Agrees with, and is able to support the ethos of the Matrix Trust.
DESIRABLE

Educated to degree level, preferably in a related field.

We are looking for an experienced CEO or senior charity manager, able to manage the business functions of a charity that is just starting out. You will have a proven track record of managing a small, prosocial organisation and setting up the systems necessary for success. You will have skills to work strategically, have business management skills, be able to lead and grow a team and work relationally.
As CEO an important goal will be to put the charity on a firm foundation for long-term sustainability. You will work with our fundraising consultant to ensure a steady income stream of core funding, ensuring financial stability for employees and building partnerships with local organisations to maximise impact and sustainability through collaborative work and partnership bids. This requires considerable, skilled networking and relationship-building, both within the Church’s Community Hub, with our existing partner VCFSE organisations and in the wider sector, including local Councils, PCNs and the ICB.
You will also be principally responsible for the organisation’s HR function, risk and compliance, as well as its monitoring and evaluation of impact (for quality assurance and fundraising purposes). This means ensuring best practice is observed and maintained in these and related areas, including line management, service policy, financial management, safeguarding and data privacy.
Knowledge and/or lived experience of mental health difficulties and the relevant support services/treatment modalities is essential; experience working within the mental health sector is highly desirable. We are seeking someone who is passionate about mental health and views this role as an exciting, long-term opportunity to make a significant difference to the lives of thousands of adults in Birmingham. About the role.
As a member of the Cathedral Leadership Team and as the senior operational manager of Wells Cathedral, the COO is responsible for the delivery of the Chapter’s strategy and plans and for the day-to-day coordination of operations in the context of the ministry and mission of the Cathedral. Reporting to the Dean of Wells and accountable to the Chapter of Wells Cathedral, this is a full-time role which requires a presence onsite to carry out the duties effectively. The Chapter is the Board of Trustees for the Cathedral. It is the administrative body of the cathedral with the ultimate responsibility for directing and overseeing its affairs. They, alongside the COO, set the strategic direction for the Cathedral.
The principal responsibilities of the COO are to:
- Provide leadership to the operational departments that align with the Chapter’s overall strategic vision and objectives.
- Oversee and coordinate the activities of the Cathedral’s operational departments and associated staff.
- Lead, manage and motivate the Cathedral’s staff and its volunteers.
- Maintain and strengthen the Cathedral’s financial position in conjunction with the Chief Financial Officer.
- Represent the Cathedral on external bodies and occasions as required.
- Be aware of and actively participate in the life of the Cathedral and its worship.
Who we are looking for.
As a natural leader, the next COO should be authentic in their leadership and team-management skills, building trust quickly to lead the organisation in the context of some demanding priorities. Motivationally inspiring, wise in kindness, and with a values-led approach, the next COO should be experienced in people management and able to forge strong connections. They must be mindful of creating a healthy culture as well as delivering against the strategy. Open and transparent, the next COO needs to be a relationship builder engaging with the community beyond the Cathedral and building on existing partnerships.
A person of integrity and agility, the next COO should be skilled in managing several projects at once, balancing the need for involvement at both high and detailed levels. Wells Cathedral’s next COO should be comfortable managing the day-to-day operations of the Cathedral, a complex estate with multiple services, events and activities in a weekly busy programme. With an empathetic servant leader approach, they will work in sympathy with the values and Christian foundation, able to influence staff and volunteers in a collegiate and timely manner.
With extensive experience working with a variety of stakeholders across organisations, they should have the vision to lead as well as the ability to work as a member of the wider team. Similarly, they must have the capacity to support areas of work outside of their specialism, facilitating and supporting their team in key decisions. The next COO needs to be agile in their approach and adapt to developing, changing, and sometimes conflicting priorities, bringing their team with them. They should have a good track record of managing a healthy organisation and setting and maintaining clear and achievable standards and goals.
Displaying analytical skills, including financial literacy and commercial acuity, they will demonstrate thorough financial planning, budgeting, and reporting and have a proven track record in driving financial sustainability.

We have an exciting opportunity available to work closely with all areas of our ministry, managing the IT, AV and Health & Safety infrastructure across the organisation. The role is wide ranging and will best suit an individual keen to learn new skills, with training available to support development and knowledge growth. Your key responsibilities will include:

Management of the conference hall sound studio and mobile sound systems used for delivering the AV requirements of lectures, holidays and events across the site, including organising rotas and the training and supervision of students, staff members, ministry assistants and other voluntary workers in the running of it.

Oversight of the charity’s Health & Safety, working closely with our Health & Safety contractor (Citation) who act as our competent person, to maintain safe processes and practices that abide by regulations.

We are praying for a talented Director of Finance, Property and IT to join our Leadership Team. You will be inheriting a skilled and diverse team across the finance, property and IT functions, with the possibility to grow this team, as needed, to fulfil your responsibilities.
