Souster Youth is an exciting Christian youth work organisation in the east Northamptonshire area. We transform the social, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing of young people in our area through our work in schools and the local community. Based at Souster Youth Trust, Thrapston, Northamptonshire, the Director leads a team of 4 staff and over 20 volunteers.

As Director, you will be motivated by your Christian faith to inspire hope in the lives of young people. You will have vision and strategic ability to lead Souster Youth. Key Responsibilities

1. To lead the development and implementation of the vision and strategy of Souster Youth Trust.
2. To develop and promote the trust as a leading, innovative, and valued charity, supported by young people, schools, churches and the wider community.
3. To lead the staff team and volunteers, ensuring safe recruitment, management and appraisals, support, training and development.
4. To work closely with secondary schools, ensuring the continuous improvement of the service provided to them in response to emerging needs and opportunities.
5. To maintain and grow networks and partnerships with churches, relevant organisations, funders and other stakeholders.
6. To mentor and support the staff team by working alongside them directly with young people to model good practice.
7. To enable the voice of young people to be heard in decision-making and shaping of strategy and priorities.
8. To ensure compliance with legislation and champion best practice, with particular regard to Safeguarding, Health and Safety and other policies.
9. To oversee the administration and financial systems.
10. To actively manage the budget and fundraising, working towards the financial sustainability of the trust.

Safeguarding is of fundamental importance to the work of the RSCM at every level, so this is a vital role which involves working collaboratively with staff and volunteers across the UK to ensure safeguarding policies and procedures are implemented and kept under review, keeping up to date with legislation and best practice.

You will act as the RSCM's Lead Recruiter through 31:8 for processing DBS applications, receiving updates and deciding levels of clearance required for staff and volunteers including for events and courses. 

Thee will be a high degree of liaison with Trustees, management and staff as well as the need to network with other agencies as appropriate.

This is a new role for the Circuit, replacing a volunteer. In designing the position, the Circuit has aimed for maximum flexibility to secure the best candidate for the role. Initially, the person will need physically to attend some meetings to familiarise themselves with the Circuit's operations and ensure a smooth hand-over. For the right person, though, there will be considerable flexibility about how the duties are fulfilled in the longer-term. It is specifically expected that the role will allow for flexible scheduling to accommodate other responsibilities, including caring.

The Richmond & Hounslow Circuit comprises seven churches in southwest London. As with all Methodist circuits, these churches function autonomously yet collaborate closely in their ministry and mission efforts. The Circuit oversees joint resources, including staff and property. Presently, it employs four full-time ordained ministers, one full-time lay pastor, and a part-time administrator. As a part of the Methodist Church, its mission is “to respond to the gospel of God’s love in Christ and to live out its discipleship in worship and mission”. To fulfil this mission, the Circuit fosters a broad spectrum of ministry within its congregations, focusing on worship but also engaging in outreach to the homeless, asylum seekers, new parents, and various other groups. Aid to the Church in Need is a Catholic charity, supporting persecuted and suffering Christians around the world.

Working alongside the existing Community Fundraiser in London, this role will engage with the Dioceses in Westminster, Brentford & East Anglia to establish and strengthen links to individual bishops and diocesan communications staff. Live out your Christian faith in a fun job, surrounded by excellent kind volunteers and straight talking adults with learning disabilities in a beautiful farm setting near Winchester.  If you love cooking, people and thinking on your feet, then this is the management job for you.  Boaz is a small independent charity that over 100 people a week call their "workplace".  Four days a week around 30 people come to the farm to "work and learn together" doing a whole range of horticulture and other jobs such as cooking, craft, animal care and woodwork.  As Deputy Manager you will help keep the fun levels high, the stress levels low, and people working harmoniously together.  Four days each week you'll lead on cooking a simple vegetarian meal for everyone on site, plus be involved in the general day to day management of the charity.  But don't take my word for it, swing by for a coffee and a walk around to get a feel for things BEFORE you apply.  Based in a converted cow barn this is a MARMITE job, and we all know that people either love or don't love that spread.

It's a small team, only two other full time staff members working alongside you, but over 50 volunteers coming and going each week and over 30 adults with learning disabilities who spend half days or several days a week working at the project.  Each day starts with some "listening and prayer time" where people are encouraged to share and receive prayer if they request it.  Then some scripture is shared followed by remembering everything people are grateful for.  As Deputy Manager you would lead these sessions when the General Manager is on leave or be on a rota system.

The role is based on-site, Monday to Friday, 8:30 to 4:30.

You get 20 days holiday a year plus Public Holidays to start with, plus additional days for long service.

Pay will be in the range of £28 to £30,000 p/a depending on experience.

Internal Communications Officer

Hybrid Working: Connexional Team staff based at Methodist Church House have a hybrid work pattern which is currently 2 days in the office, and 3 days remote.

About the Role

We are looking to appoint an Internal Communications Officer who will play a critical role in developing and shaping the organisation’s internal communications for the staff of the Connexional Team.

The post holder will work closely with Senior Managers to ensure that the Team’s values, mission and updates are effectively communicated to all Team members working across several sites and from home, to foster a cohesive and motivated work environment.

In this crucial role, the Internal Communications Officer will be responsible for establishing and managing channels for staff feedback to leadership, producing engaging content for various channels, and organising and delivering internal events.

The successful applicant will also provide support and training for staff on communication tools and practices, encourage staff to be ambassadors of the Church, and plan and approve regular communications to be sent out to employees including staff newsletters and newsletters from Team members.

About You

The post holder will have at least three years’ experience of working with an internal communications context within an organisation and will have the ability to develop and implement comprehensive internal communications strategies that align with the organisation’s values.

You will be able to articulate messages clearly and effectively, both in writing and verbally, that are tailored to various internal audiences.  Exceptional writing, editing and proof-reading skills for a range of communication channels are a must for this role.

You will also have strong organisational skills with the ability to lead projects, work collaboratively and be proficient in digital communication tools and platforms.

The successful applicant will have strong interpersonal and listening skills with experience in building relationships with key internal stakeholders.

Working with two highly experienced Programme Coordinators, you will help to grow our existing Youth Development Team activities, currently present in Hampton, and continue the development of our newly launched Aspire project.

This is a maternity cover role for a minimum period of 6 months starting in June. You will be based in Peterborough but also spend time at our centre in Cambridge.

You will manage our Lead Youth Development Worker and Aspire Development Worker, in Peterborough, encouraging them to establish positive relationships with young people, from which we development activities, and provide advice and support.

Joining a growing Peterborough team, you’ll support the expansion of weekly groups, one-to-one work, family support, school-based alternative education, trips and residential experiences. Increasing partnership working with local community groups and agencies will be key to this.

Romsey Mill's Youth Development Team (YDT) works with disadvantaged, at-risk and vulnerable young people (aged 10 - 21 years) across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. YDT are passionate about supporting young people to overcome challenges, live fulfilling lives and inspire change in the world. We currently engage around 1200 young people each year. Aspire is the name of Romsey Mill’s project that supports autistic children and young people. We currently deliver 14 specialist youth clubs across Cambridge, Cambourne, Linton and Hampton supporting over 180 autistic young people. We’re excited about further extending the work across Peterborough. You will work out of the office Romsey Mill rents at CSK Church in Hampton for 3-4 days per week. We utilise space there and in other community facilities for the delivery of activities. You will also spend 1-2 days working from Romsey Mill Centre, Cambridge.

This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled writer and/or journalist to tell the stories of SAT-7 and the people of the MENA in fresh and powerful ways. You’ll be working in a fast-paced, creative environment as part of the Communications & Resources Team, delivering high quality content across a range of platforms. You’d be writing engaging podcast and video scripts, informative press releases, powerful viewer testimonies, inspiring articles for our website or print magazine, political briefings, and attention-grabbing email copy. You’ll be one of the main points of contact with our international office and Middle Eastern TV studios, gathering and repurposing impactful stories and resourcing the wider UK team.

You’d also be responsible for making SAT-7 more widely known amongst UK Christians and churches, leaders and influencers, getting SAT-7’s stories and campaigns strategically placed across print, broadcast and digital press and media. Working closely with our external PR agency, you’ll help facilitate regular media opportunities with SAT-7 UK and international spokespeople, making sure they are well prepared for interviews with the press.

Position summary

SAT-7 is currently looking to recruit a Development Officer to join SAT-7s Development Department.

The purpose of SAT-7 is to provide Christian television and digital media services to support the work and witness of the church in the Middle East and North Africa.

SAT-7’s Development department works with projects to address often controversial issues in the MENA region such as disability, discrimination, limited educational opportunities, women’s and children’s rights through the TV-programs and through on the ground partners.

The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring and reporting on the activities of SAT-7 PARS, SAT-7’s Farsi speaking channel, including the drafting of fundraising proposals.

• Conduct frequent MENA context analysis with special focus on the situation for Christians, FoRB, women, children, disabilities, education etc.
• Monitoring and managing the correct implementation of the projects (scope, budget, schedule, quality etc.)
• Manage and ensure the necessary reporting of SAT-7 PARS projects carried out with restricted funds.
• Management and development of the portfolio of SAT-7 social-impact projects in line with Communications for Development approach
• Oversee research related to measurement of the success of different projects.
• Work closely with the International Office Communications Department for the portfolio projects.
• Travelling to different SAT-7 offices in MENA when required

Qualifications and requirements

• Be sympathetic with and enthusiastic about the purpose and goals of SAT‑7.
• Relevant university degree is required e.g. Social Sciences, Political Sciences, Theology
• Knowledge of Middle East political, socioeconomics and religious issues is essential.
• Experience in project management, Communications for Development or/and Christian ministry, and the coordination of projects supported by restricted funds would be an advantage.
• Be a proficient communication writer able to express SAT-7’s Christian identity to corporate and statutory funders.
• Outstanding English writing/speaking skills.
• Experience in a similar position is considered an advantage.
• Knowledge of Farsi would be an advantage.
• Previous experience of working in the Middle East or North Africa is a strong advantage
• Be very organised with good attention to detail, able to juggle different tasks, meet deadlines, prioritise and delegate when appropriate.
• Experience from working with staff from different cultures.
• Be flexible, demonstrating a “can do” attitude when taking on new challenges, leading by example.
• Good interpersonal skills; able to communicate effectively via phone, email and in person with people from a wide variety of backgrounds.
•  Self-motivated, confident, proactive, and highly organized with ability to multi-task to meet deadlines.
