Job description

Based in Camden, London - services are currently being delivered remotely and flexible working is expected to continue.

Citizens Advice Camden is a well-respected local charity with more than 80 years’ experience of delivering free, independent and impartial information, advice and casework services which meet the changing needs of local residents. Our aims are to provide the independent, impartial, confidential and free advice people need for the problems they face and to improve the policies and practices that affect people’s lives.

We target our services at the most vulnerable in our community. Our client profile closely  matches local indices of deprivation with most of our clients coming from the most deprived wards in Camden. We identify trends to ensure our services remain agile and able to respond to changing and emerging advice needs.

The Financial Capability Project is an exciting new service to empower residents and  increase their financial capability, particularly important given the disproportional financial impact of Covid-19 on many in our community. This service will work  together with partners across the Camden Advice Network to meet the financial capability needs of residents. Funding is currently available for two years with a potential third year following review.

To support this work, we are looking to recruit a Financial Capability Development  Manager. Reporting to the Head of Advice, you will lead the Financial Capability Supervisor and a team of volunteers to deliver financial capability and budgeting services to improve the quality of life, wellbeing and financial resilience of Camden residents experiencing poverty, financial hardship and financial exclusion. You will work together with external partners in the Camden Advice Network in the planning and delivery of this project. The expectation is that in working collaboratively with  partners you will contribute towards the strengthening of the Camden Advice Network.

You will have –

  • Knowledge of financial capability and money skills advice delivery;
  • Proven ability to develop training resources and deliver training on financial capability/money skills;
  • Proven proactive approach to service development and improvement.
  • Ability to manage and lead a small team, including volunteers, in setting-up a new service;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
