Citizens Advice Milton Keynes is a local charity that helps people to resolve their legal, money and personal problems. We have been providing free, confidential, and impartial advice since 1972 and helped over 8000 local people last year.

We have an excellent opportunity for an experienced, highly motivated Money Adviser to join our well established Casework Team. The focus of this post is to support our money advice casework service to clients across the borough of Milton Keynes.

You will need to have a minimum 12 months’ knowledge and experience of providing money advice casework including dealing with multiple debt, housing issues and income maximisation. You will have recent experience of working for a debt advice agency, either voluntary or statutory, and you will be able to provide debt advice to our clients, exploring relevant debt options, negotiating with creditors, progressing casework and keeping accurate case records.

Ideally, you will also have some experience of providing training and coaching to colleagues.

Applicants need to be –

  • Computer-literate, although training on our case recording systems will be given.
  • Confident in working to performance targets.
  • Able to show good communications skills, both written and verbal. These are essential in the role, as are excellent customer service skills with a non-judgemental approach.

The successful candidate will be expected to maintain a minimum number of CPD points as part of their development and undertake accredited money advice training.
