Salary: £28,329 F.T.E. (Scale 5 of Citizens Advice Westminster Salary Framework)
Hours: 24 hours (3 days per week)
Contract: 12 months Fixed Term with the possibility of extension

We are looking for an experienced and dynamic individual to join our team to provide an advice and casework service for families in the City of Westminster on a range of debt and welfare benefit issues.  

Based at our offices in Paddington, with outreach sessions delivered at community venues in Westminster the post holder will:

  • Provide an effective advice service on the full range of enquiry areas, and casework particularly in Benefits, Debt, Housing, Health and social care issues and Family law; which meets quality standards and achieves performance targets
  • Deliver an effective advice and casework service that supports families to access statutory, and other sources of assistance to improve their opportunities for employment, training and/or education; with a view to developing their sustainability
  • Identify and highlight policy and campaigns issues with a view to influencing policy and effecting change.

You will need to demonstrate:

  • Citizens Advice’s Certificate in Generalist Advice Work or;
  • Level 3 Counselling Diploma, or other equivalent qualification or training
  • Two years (full-time equivalent) post certificate experience of providing generalist advice, including in-depth welfare benefits advice and casework or;
  • Two years’ experience of counselling / mentoring / coaching and supporting families via mediation and practical assistance

As the successful candidate you will need to be highly motivated with a proactive approach to service delivery.  You will be able to demonstrate effective organisational skills, with the ability to cope under pressure whilst maintaining standards. A commitment to working in a multi-cultural environment is essential.
