About the role
You will oversee all phases of our funded services and programmes, working at senior management level. This role will be a driver of change, leading on all our funded services and the development of CAHF Innovation Hub which aims to test and pilot ideas on a small scale. We want to continue to evolve our services with the aim of increasing the reach and the impact of our work. The ideal candidate will have experience of delivering project(s) in the Advice Sector or demonstrable transferable skills, including:
- Collaborating positively with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders to maintain cohesive project delivery.
- Working with the Chief Officer to assess and review opportunities for securing new programmes of activities to strengthen our response to the community advice needs.
- Working with CAHF’s Advice Service Managers to ensure robust line management for project staff.
- Monitoring and reporting on project performance to KPIs to required quality standards.
- Manage conflicting priorities to ensure that objectives are achieved and deadlines are met.

GENERALIST ADVICE WORKER/ADVICE SESSION SUPERVISOR OR TRAINEE POSITION

This post is advertised as an exciting opportunity for an experienced Advice Session Supervisor (ASS) to consolidate their skills and experience or as a development opportunity for an advisor to train to become an ASS within six months of starting in post. Citizens Advice Southwark has been awarded funding by City Bridge Foundation to provide a welfare benefits advice service for Southwark residents and we are now seeking to recruit a full time welfare benefits caseworker.
The caseworker will be based between our two main offices in Peckham and Walworth and will assist with raising awareness and completing benefit claims, advocating on behalf of clients and submitting reviews and appeals. The caseworker will also train a team of volunteers to increase capacity and expertise and will act in a consultancy role for generalist advisers and frontline workers in other agencies in the borough.

About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to work in a well-regarded and innovative project contributing to achieving good outcomes for some of the most vulnerable families in England and beyond whose sick children are being treated at Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital (GOSH.) We also provide an ‘open door’ service to our GOSH partners such as social workers and family support officers in our areas of expertise.
We offer this as either a Trainee Adviser or Adviser role depending on your current advice work experience. As this is a short-term contract, if you are not currently an experienced generalist adviser, we would still expect you to have some experience of delivering generalist advice. We will support you through the Citizens Advice adviser training programme whilst you build your skills to deliver high quality advice and casework to families with children who are patients at GOSH. We will train you to deliver holistic advice and in-depth casework support, particularly with benefits including appeals and also with housing and debt enquiries.
Being available onsite is an important aspect of this role and so this role is hybrid working. The exact split between remote/onsite working will be by agreement with the line manager and to meet the needs of the project which could change over time. This role is not suitable for remote working only.
Appointment to the role is subject to being granted GOSH honorary staff status and a satisfactory enhanced DBS.

As a Debt & Budgeting Caseworker you will support clients who not only require advice but also have additional support needs, ensuring they engage and remain engaged throughout the advice journey until they have entered a suitable debt solution. Citizens Advice, in partnership with The Trussell Trust, have been running the Help through Hardship Helpline (formerly the Trussell Trust Foodbank helpline) for over 3 years. The helpline has been highly successful in reaching those clients most in need. Yearly Citizens Advice Help Through Hardship line has answered nearly 57,000 calls, helped feed over 70,000 people and recorded £13 million in expected financial gains for clients.
The Helpline is now being extended to local Citizens Advice offices and we're looking for new advisers to join our team in Liverpool who will provide information and advice on the issues clients are facing and help them access foodbank vouchers.

About the role
In partnership with The Trussell Trust, Citizens Advice Liverpool have been delivering the Help through Hardship Helpline. The helpline has been highly successful in reaching those communities most in need, offering advice and access to foodbank vouchers.
This role is dedicated to supporting local people experiencing crisis, helping to gain access to advice and information across Foodbanks, outreach locations and Citizens Advice Liverpool offices. Supported by the General Advice Team, the postholder will provide face-to-face support to Foodbank service users with the aim of improving their financial wellbeing. The postholder will advise on matters such as:
- Income maximisation through welfare benefits – including Personal Independence Payment, ESA and Universal Credit
- Identifying and making applications for grants
- Using budgeting tools and guidance to improve financial literacy
About You
The post holder will need to be self-motivated, organised and flexible with the ability to travel across locations in Liverpool. We are looking for someone with excellent interpersonal communication skills, sensitive of the issues involved in interviewing and working with clients, in particular vulnerable people. You will have good IT skills in order to act for the client where necessary as well as ensure all casework is recorded and in line with Advice Quality Standards.

We are looking to take on a Capacity Building Training Officer to join our in-house training and development team which will form part of the wider Human Resources management function/team. You will be responsible for delivering all mandatory learning for volunteers and paid trainees to reach their competence and to design and deliver advice training to external organisations to support capacity building within the community. This will be both in-person delivered training as well as via online platforms.
This role will be working closely with key external stakeholders across the voluntary and community sector as well as internally with the management and supervisor team.
Purpose of the job:
To deliver mandatory training for volunteers and paid trainees and to design and deliver advice training to external organisations to support capacity building within the community.
Key Functions
Planning
Contributing to creation and delivery of the recruitment, training and development plan for volunteers and paid staff working as part of the HR team.
Internal Training and volunteer recruitment
Recruitment and induction of volunteers in line with the organisations training targets and training plan.
Using the Citizens Advice training modules to provide training and support to volunteers and paid trainee staff until they achieve competency in line with the needs of the overall service and to National Citizens Advice standards.
Responsible for retention of volunteers.
External Training
Design, coordinate and deliver advice training to external organisations and individuals including basic general advice process, subject specific advice and information on debt, benefits and housing, etc.
Reporting
Responsible for ensuring that key outcome metrics are built into all training delivered and responsible for reporting and analysing results to provide clarity to management on the status of all trainees and volunteers learning on a regular basis.
The trainer remains responsible for the trainee until they attain competency in agreement with the supervisors.

This means IT, HR Administration, PR Campaigns, Financial Capability and Finance and administrative monitoring of the projects to maintain national Citizens Advice standards and meet the funders needs. This will involve:
- To manage the administration of funded projects, monitoring targets and ensuring the KPIs are being met and funder reports are submitted on time.
- To ensure all new projects are properly onboarded and have the correct resources.
- To ensure funder needs are met and the projects deliver to the required standard
- Line management of the non-advice staff as listed above and coordinating community outreach programme
- Supporting the leadership team in planning the service and new projects
