Job description

The Coach Core Foundation is an employment and education charity that uses a community sports apprenticeship to target NEET 16+ year olds and have them not only change their future pathways but also become a positive coaching influence in communities that need the provision most.  By positioning ourselves as the springboard into a new career pathway, we are able to work with young people, employers and sector partners from around the UK to ensure we create a truly impactful programme offer for all involved.


We now embark on the next chapter of our journey with a strategic goal to grow the charity so that we can transition successfully whilst also furthering our reputation as the sectors most successful ‘bridge back into employment/education’ apprenticeship programme.  Our ultimate goal is to grow and bring the multiple, long term programme benefits to more young people, employers and communities around the UK.


We are now hiring a Digital Manager to drive, shape and lead the digital strategy and profile of the charity at this key time. 


Encompassing a wide range of responsibilities at a very exciting stage on our journey, the principal duties will include:

  • undertake the management of all current Coach Core social channels, leading the future scoping, development and strategy linked to this.We need these channels to really speak to our different audiences at different times so this will require an experienced, creative mind to consistently deliver this effectively;

  • manage the Coach Core website to maintain and enhance our content and messaging (linked to the above);

  • own and review our current branding and marketing strategies and where possible, drive new and innovative ways of ensuring the Coach Core brand, ethos and impact is felt across the sector;

  • be proactive in your approach to regularly reviewing the current sports and political landscape so Coach Core can align and respond whenever possible;

  • be responsible for the budget, planning and reporting linked to our digital and marketing spend and identify risks and solutions linked to this

  • work with the programme team daily to access key content, operational understanding and build programme level relationships either digitally or on site;

  • engage with a number of stakeholder relationships both internally and externally to ensure your work is transparent, current and accountable at all times;

  • opportunity to work directly on filming, production and major events and/or engage with external agencies to capture the best of Coach Core when required.

This is a full time (37.5 hours per week), permanent role with a salary of £35,000 per annum.

The role is based at The Kia Oval, Kennington, London but with frequent UK travel


Typically educated to degree/apprenticeship L5+ standard, we are seeking an experienced, highly ambitious individual who will thrive in an atmosphere of no day being the same but can always remain focussed and accountable.


Key requirements and characteristics include:

  • A true advocate for sport for change and physical activity and the benefits it can have across wider society;

  • Proven experience working on management of social media channels both in terms of managing the content and brand but also monitoring, evaluating and enhancing the audience reach and impact too;

  • Sound experience of website management and content writing using (WordPress experience desirable) to update key pages frequently;

  • Track record of working across a variety of stakeholders, both internally and externally to demonstrate your planning, strategy and impact to that particular audience;

  • Experience of branding and campaigns, ideally both online and offline;

  • Experience of budget management and reporting against key targets and indicators which will be agreed collaboratively with the successful candidate;

  • Confident and demonstrable record of evaluating the impact of your work in line with targets set and those of the wider charitable outcomes/KPIs;

  • Preferred (but not essential) experience of apprenticeships and the education sector;

  • Strong decision maker with a high level of standards for themselves and those around them;

  • Will suit proactive individuals who will embrace the exciting nature of our project working in a number of locations at varying times;

  • Will suit individuals with a creative eye used to working with young people/inner city projects;

  • Preferred (but not essential) UK driving licence and access to their own vehicle.

Relationships (Internal & external)

  • Key stakeholders linked to our digital channels and/or individuals and organisations in the digital sector that can benefit you/the charities position;

  • Coach Core staff, trustees and any other key individuals linked directly to our charity;

  • The Coach Core employers and most importantly, the Coach Core apprentices;

  • Our educational providers;

  • Donors, funders and/or individuals critical to the support of our project;

  • Key sporting organisations and governance;

  • Sporting ambassadors and The Royal Foundation/Royal Household when required.
