Job Description

An international not-for-profit leadership development organization, we run programmes in over 100 cities worldwide offering participants the knowledge, skills and inspiration to cross boundaries and become more active and engaged leaders in society.

The role

We are currently looking for a dynamic and ambitious professional, who shares our values and is passionate about leadership development, to join us as Programme Manager for Common Purpose International, which is spearheading our work with diaspora leaders. A self-starter full of energy and drive, you will work closely with the rest of the team to deliver the exciting diaspora leadership programmes run both in the UK and internationally. The person in this role will work on programmes for leaders from the Arab world as well as programmes for diaspora leaders in other parts of the world

You will manage all aspects of the programmes ensuring that they provide a high quality learning experience for all the participants.

Position: Programme Manager

Department/Office: London

Responsible to: Business Director

Salary: £23,000 - £25,000 per annum dependent on experience 

Physical Location: London

Duration: 1 year fixed term contract (with opportunity to extend), Full time 5 days per week

Your responsibilities

As the Programme Manager you will have the following responsibilities

1) Manage all aspects of the diaspora leadership programmes 

• Monitor and produce accurate reports on income and expenditure

• Manage timeframes for projects, resolving conflicts in priorities and responsibilities

• Produce clear and timely progress updates including challenges and responsibilities 

• Liaise with programme participants

• Ensure accurate data management and operation of Common Purpose systems 

2) Design, Plan and Deliver programme activities 

• Work with the delivery team to design, plan and deliver challenging, balanced, relevant and high quality curriculum 

• Research, identify and secure speakers and contributors

• Identify, cost and secure venues, caterers and transport for programmes and liaise with all suppliers to ensure that programmes are delivered smoothly and to a high standard

• Produce risk assessments and ensure that all activities with relevant organizational and statutory policies, including health & safety and general duty of care

• Maintain the high standards of the Common Purpose ‘microclimate’ and Impact across all programmes 

3) Improve the quality of the programmes through monitoring and reporting and the effective communication of best practice and new developments

• Monitor the quality of programmes through Key Performance Indicators and the programme assessment processes

• Ensure programme materials are of a high quality 

• Provide effective up-to-date information and reports on programme quality

• Provide prompt and effective support to the team as required

• Effectively communicate ongoing changes, developments and updates in curriculum 

A day in the life 

A typical day in the life of the Programme Manager would entail: 

• Researching programme themes, identifying and securing speakers 

• Liaising with programme participants on a range of issues

• Project management of face to face programmes and online learning modules 

• Management of face to face programmes on location in London, and in other parts of the world as necessary  

• Analyzing the impact of our programme and producing reports

• Working with Common Purpose staff globally to support the programme delivery.

About you

4. Strong communication skills, with excellent written and spoken English, written classical (Fousha) Arabic and spoken Levantine dialects

5. Confident and proficient in the use of MS Office 

6. Experience of establishing strong working relationships with colleagues from different functions and cultures

7. Experience of a flexible approach to managing and prioritising a high workload and multiple tasks in a fast paced environment with tight deadlines

8. Experience of proactively identifying and addressing issues

9. Experience of implementing processes that support the achievement of business goals 

10. Able and willing to travel to locations for short periods of time and at short notice 

11. An understanding of and commitment to Common Purpose’s mission, values and behaviours

Some desirable but non-essential qualifications, experiences and competences

1. 2 years’ experience working in a similar role

2. Experience of operating internationally

3. Native Levantine Arabic speaker
