About the role
The postholder will have a unique opportunity to lead delivery of our communications strategy, supporting the delivery of our organisational objectives and ensuring we maximise our 20th anniversary year to raise IHP’s profile and grow our community.
You’ll manage a small, but fantastic team of committed communications professionals, whilst working alongside other teams to effectively tell IHP’s story, and the stories of those we serve. You’ll work with our fundraising team to collaborate on fundraising campaigns, our Corporate Partnerships team to engage pharmaceutical and logistics partners in new and exciting ways, and our Programmes team to work directly with NGO partners to gather content and demonstrate our impact through effective storytelling.
You will also be a part of the Senior Leadership Team, responsible for setting the strategic vision and direction of the organisation. This is a temporary role as a maternity cover starting in July 2024.
What you’ll be working on
- Lead on IHP’s 20th anniversary campaign including overseeing a pivotal stakeholder engagement event
- Implement and embed IHP’s newly developed brand identity across the organisation and across external channels.
-Oversee the marketing strategy for our self-designed and revolutionary software system, Boaz, helping to reach new customers and position as a leader in its field.
- Manage relationships with external stakeholders to develop communications opportunities and amplify IHP’s voice including employee engagement opportunities.
- Manage relationship with our social media agency to effectively execute IHP’s communications objectives and grow our audiences and engagement.
- Oversee the marketing delivery of our annual Christmas fundraising campaign.
Essential knowledge/transferable skills and experience:

St Martin-in-the-Fields Charity exists to try to prevent homelessness. Where it does occur, the organisation supports the delivery of the best possible solutions that enable people experiencing, or about to experience, homelessness to secure and keep a safe place to live. That could mean support through emergency grants to address urgent housing needs, supporting frontline organisations providing access to healthcare, legal advice, and mental health support to help people move on from homelessness.

About Social Change Lab
Social Change Lab is a nonprofit conducting and disseminating social movement research to help solve the world’s most pressing problems. Historically, social movements conducting disruptive campaigns seem to have been crucial in driving significant political, social and economic change. Despite this, there has been little research systematically analysing the effectiveness of social movements and the strategies or tactics that most influence the success of these campaigns. Our research addresses this neglected knowledge gap and provides actionable advice to advocates and philanthropists working on a variety of important issues, with a focus on animal advocacy and climate change. We support activist groups in choosing effective campaigning strategies and tactics (e.g. via delivering training and workshops) as well as supporting funders with their philanthropic giving. About the role
As the Director of Social Change Lab, you would have a high level of responsibility and high impact. About the Role

Based in Guisborough, our client are involved in the conservation and restoration of a variety of habitats including woodland, freshwater, marine, moorland, and meadows. They work with local landowners, resident groups, schools and local communities to achieve their objectives.
The Chief Executive Officer leads the delivery of their strategy and operations. You will be responsible for all operational activities and financial management.
Working closely with the Chair and Trustees you’ll ensure the smooth and efficient management of the Trust, leading an innovative but respected and financially sustainable organisation. As the principal external ‘face’ of the Trust, you'll be expected to play a leading role in strengthening relationships with partners, supporters, agencies and other organisations, and to foster and enhance the reputation of the Trust.

Sound knowledge and understanding of wildlife, nature conservation and environmental matters

Significant leadership and senior management experience of an organisation or department and an understanding of the principles of strategic leadership.

Experience of leadership or management in charitable or not-for-profit organisations

Experience of writing and delivering impactful strategic plans.

Experience of working collaboratively with Trustees or non-executive Directors and stakeholders

A track record of supporting or leading income growth strategies.

Knowledge of relevant Charity Law

Experienced in the development of operational plans, financial budgets, and staff development plans.

We are looking for an experienced CEO or senior charity manager, able to manage the business functions of a charity that is just starting out. You will have a proven track record of managing a small, prosocial organisation and setting up the systems necessary for success. You will have skills to work strategically, have business management skills, be able to lead and grow a team and work relationally.
As CEO an important goal will be to put the charity on a firm foundation for long-term sustainability. You will work with our fundraising consultant to ensure a steady income stream of core funding, ensuring financial stability for employees and building partnerships with local organisations to maximise impact and sustainability through collaborative work and partnership bids. This requires considerable, skilled networking and relationship-building, both within the Church’s Community Hub, with our existing partner VCFSE organisations and in the wider sector, including local Councils, PCNs and the ICB.
You will also be principally responsible for the organisation’s HR function, risk and compliance, as well as its monitoring and evaluation of impact (for quality assurance and fundraising purposes). This means ensuring best practice is observed and maintained in these and related areas, including line management, service policy, financial management, safeguarding and data privacy.
Knowledge and/or lived experience of mental health difficulties and the relevant support services/treatment modalities is essential; experience working within the mental health sector is highly desirable. We are seeking someone who is passionate about mental health and views this role as an exciting, long-term opportunity to make a significant difference to the lives of thousands of adults in Birmingham. The post holder will live and champion our unique model of community mental health provision, our vision and values, rooted in the service’s Christian ethos as part of St Germain's holistic mission and ministry to its community.
