Business Disability Forum is the leading business membership organisation in disability inclusion. Our Communications and Marketing team is working hard to attract more businesses to join us as Members, to increase uptake of our events, products and services, and to help us to become more well-known for our policy work, research and campaigns.
If you want to play a part in creating a more disability inclusive society, have experience working in a media relations role, and a good eye for a story, come and join our busy, friendly team as part-time Media and Communications Officer.
We are looking for someone who already loves working in media relations, but who can also support broader communications activity. If you have a can-do attitude, the tenacity to pursue media coverage, and great attention to detail, we’d love to hear from you.
The majority of this role will focus on developing and delivering proactive and reactive print, online and broadcast media relations campaigns to promote the benefits of disability inclusion, our membership, products, services and policy work to businesses and policymakers. You would also plan and write content for multiple platforms.
You will have:
- Experience of media relations with a proven track record at officer level.
- Experience selling in stories to journalists with the motivation to keep going and follow up.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience writing content for a range of audiences and channels.
- A flexible approach.
This new part-time role (4 days, Monday and Friday required), is based in our Communications and Marketing Team (6 people) and will work closely with our Media Consultant.
We offer opportunities for flexible working, including variable start and finish times, hybrid or remote working. Most staff work an average of two days a week in our office in London Bridge, London, SE1.

About the role

Responsibilities
- Work in collaboration with the ESC team and stakeholders to design a programme of inspiring energy and climate themed events in Hastings, Rother, Eastbourne, and Wealden, reaching a total of 1000 residents across the year.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
The postholder will be responsible for publicising Gresham lectures and speakers to the media to amplify our visibility, enhance our reputation, and attract new audiences to Gresham.
The post-holder will need to be able to translate complex, technical information into clear and engaging press releases and briefings. They will need to be capable of managing proactive, planned press work but also have the ability to react to events and enquiries as well. They should demonstrate a strong track record of working and placing articles with a variety of national / international / print / digital media outlets.

Raising Futures Kenya is an award-winning small UK charity, working closely alongside a wonderful partner NGO in Kenya to deliver a hugely successful vocational training and business skills programme called Seed of Hope.

Westonbirt, The National Arboretum, is one of the finest collections of temperate trees in the world. Its 600 acres is recognised as a Grade 1 landscape of national importance and includes ancient woodland and semi-natural grassland. Since 1956 it has been managed by the Forestry Commission (operating as Forestry England) to meet our mission 'to connect people with trees to improve the quality of life'. Our future vision is to be ‘a world leader in trees, inspiring people through education conservation, education and participation’. We will achieve this by building on our existing objectives that cover science, learning, wellbeing, volunteering and recreation.
The arboretum is a significant regional visitor attraction with over 550,000 visits annually, onsite businesses generate a turnover in excess of £6m and the arboretum makes an estimated contribution to the local economy of over £23 million. The tree collection itself is complemented and supported by high-quality visitor facilities, catering, retail and a range of events; particularly a 4 night concert series as part of Forest Live, a 12 night Christmas lights event and sporting activities. In the past decade a £7m redevelopment project has transformed the visitor experience with a new Welcome Building and car parking in 2014 and the addition in 2016 of the award winning STIHL Treetop Walkway and Wolfson Tree Management Centre. What will the successful candidate be doing?
This role will lead marketing and communications activity across a diverse range of channels and audiences driving new and repeat visits to the arboretum and our events through creative campaigns. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to deliver the commercial aspects of the role while also inspiring people through the promotion of our good causes of conservation, education and participation.

Key Work Areas
· A full oversight of marketing, public relations and social media. Supporting the team to seek to develop on existing platforms and set achievable targets.
· Support the team to be the media contact for Westonbirt and handle national and regional media enquiries.
· Manage the production of creative marketing campaigns for events, seasons and our good causes. Collaborate with other teams to identify key messages and themes for campaigns.
· Work with the national team to market Forest Live concerts and our new Christmas at Westonbirt event. Lead on the production of marketing materials and local partnerships with retail and tourism outlets.
· Work closely with our Friends Charity to align messages across our channels including on the editorial board of the Westonbirt Magazine to include relevant content, ensure messages are clear and the content is on brand. Proofread as required.
· Manage the Forestry England brand; making sure teams are aware how to use the Forestry England logo and Westonbirt name.
· Support the team in filming and photography requests and planning content creation for our campaigns.
· Oversee the arboretum’s internal communications processes ensuring that communication plans address the needs of staff, business partners and contractors.

Nature’s Recovery Officer (Pollinators)
B-Lines are an imaginative and beautiful solution to the problem of the loss of flowers and pollinators. The B-Lines are a series of ‘insect pathways’ running through our countryside and towns, along which we are restoring and creating a series of wildflower-rich habitat stepping stones. They link existing wildlife areas together, creating a network, like a railway, that will weave across the UK.
Avon Wildlife Trust has been working with Buglife (the insect conservation charity) on the B-Lines approach since 2014, enabling us to target work to create continuous swathes of wildlife-rich habitat.
Over the past ten years we have been worked with a wide variety of private landowners and have delivered significant ecological enhancements across the region. This includes the restoration of over 170ha of wildflower-rich grassland and several nature-friendly orchards.
The next phase of B-Lines will focus on the West Mendips, between AWT’s reserves of Folly Farm and Browne’s Folly, with ambitions to scale up and expand this work. As the Nature’s Recovery Officer, you will work with farmers, landowners and communities to grow the network of habitats between these reserves. To ensure climate resilience, you will work on a variety of priority habitats including grasslands, hedgerows, planting in-filed trees and carrying out improvements to woodland edges, all of which are key to the survival of pollinating species.
As the Nature’s Recovery Officer you will:
· Support habitat improvement works on our reserves within the project area.
· Proactively identify sites, providing advice to farmers, landowners and communities, so that they can take action for nature by creating or improving nectar-rich habitats.
· Develop and lead volunteer opportunities, guided by the needs of the landowners and communities you are working with.
· Be supported by the experts at Buglife, who will provide technical advice and training, and ensure that the project is linked to the wider national B-Lines initiative and targeted species recovery where appropriate.

Energy Advisers - Leeds will manage a caseload of disabled households struggling with their energy and water bills, supporting, and empowering them over the phone. Customers in need of either more in-depth support, or support with water bills, will be referred to you by a separate team of advisers.

The role
In this role you will be:
Reviewing and confirming details from a previous assessment with the customer and conduct a second assessment to fully understand their support needs.
Developing goal-based action plans that clearly show how the customers support needs will be addressed.
Where needed, complete actions on customer’s behalf such as speaking to a supplier or submitting an application. Provide clear and detailed updates to the customer afterwards.
Measure, record and track “distance travelled” for each customer in caseload and ensure that an evidence-based approach is adopted to recording the customer journey

About You
You will have a strong background in a customer focused environment, preferably on a helpline and experience of communicating with difficult and complex information via telephone.
You will have the ability to communicate with a wide range of customers with an understanding of different needs and respond to these accordingly.
You will have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal to be able to communicate with customers and colleagues in a clear, meaningful, and effective way.
This service helps customers through their unfair extra costs and additional vulnerability to fuel poverty. Therefore, you will demonstrate effective person-centred listening, empathy, and probing skills to respond to underlying issues and assist customers to make informed choices.
Being able to respond positively to change while being able to work effectively with conflicting priorities will allow to succeed within this role.
It is essential that you have a good working knowledge of IT including Microsoft Office Products. Methodical, with excellent attention to detail when using databases.
You will bring drive and enthusiasm to your role and can demonstrate that you care passionately about improving the lives of disabled people and their families. It is desirable that you have a good knowledge of Energy and Utilities advice. If you do not already have the qualification, you will be trained to a Level 3 Award in Energy Awareness.

Blue Marine Foundation is seeking an experienced and reliable Communications Officer to join the busy communications and outreach department of an ambitious and dynamic ocean conservation charity whose mission is to restore the ocean to health. The successful candidate will be the first point of contact in leading communications for the Solent Seascape Project : a five-year, multi-million-pound conservation project delivered by a partnership of ten organisations. The project aims to reconnect the Solent into a functioning seascape by improving the condition, extent, and connectivity of key marine and coastal habitats using protection and restoration initiatives. The role requires someone who can input and deliver the projects communications strategy, with a view to significantly increasing engagement and reach of the project.
Salary: £27,000 - £30,000 depending on experience. Pro rata to part time hours.

The Drive Partnership, formed by Respect, SafeLives and Social Finance, is working to transform the national response to perpetrators of domestic abuse. We seek to change the domestic abuse narrative that asks ‘why doesn’t she leave?’ to ask ‘why doesn’t he stop?’At the same time as delivering interventions, we are working across the domestic abuse specialist sector, public sector partners and beyond to develop sustainable, national systems that respond effectively to perpetrators of domestic abuse.
Our vision is that one day there will be a national approach which sees agencies in all PCC and local authority areas across England and Wales working together with a focus on those who cause harm, the perpetrators, to disrupt abuse and change behaviour.
