What will you be doing?
The Content Officer will be responsible for gathering assets and content from across Plantlife’s work areas to highlight and deliver our mission to secure a world rich in plants and fungi.
This is a collaborative and interesting role researching and creating content across multiple channels including videos and social media. You will be responsible for creating and writing blogs and developing engaging stories that captivate, deepen relationships and inevitably grow our audiences. We have some amazing stories to tell, and you will play a significant role in shaping them.
You will also be managing the day-to-day content on our website, telling our rich brand story, collating captivating newsletters, and be involved in various operational content projects supporting the wider communications team.
Who are we looking for?
You will be a highly organised and collaborative team player who is experienced in delivering high-quality content for multiple channels. The role involves forming strong relationships with colleagues across Plantlife to encourage a wide range of content that drives engagement with Plantlife’s work. You will enjoy helping the team across a range of communications, engagement and fundraising disciplines and strengthening our networks and partnerships.Ideally, you will have a passion for the environment and be proactive in developing content to enable the best outcomes for nature.
This is a fixed term 12 month contract, full -time (35 hours per week). We offer home or hybrid working and we have offices in Salisbury and Retford.

The team
Our team in Energy Saving Trust manages the national Home Energy Scotland service on behalf of the Scottish Government. Joining our team means joining an award-winning advice service that supports hundreds of thousands of households across Scotland every year to make their homes warmer, more affordable, and sustainable.
The climate emergency and the current fuel price crisis means the work of Home Energy Scotland has never been more important. Our team is making a real difference to people’s lives, and we are also growing rapidly. We need to recruit more skilled and dedicated people to join our team now.
Our team collaborate widely with colleagues in Energy Saving Trust, staff across the Home Energy Scotland network and many other partners across Scotland. The role
The role will lead the development, design and management of training programmes for Home Energy Scotland (HES) advisors, including our advisor induction programme which is certified by the Scottish Qualification Authority (SQA).
What you’ll do
Working with the HES content and training developer, customer experience team and knowledge team, you will continuously improve advisor training methods and materials.
You will develop and oversee processes to maintain and improve the skills and knowledge for HES advisors. As well as this, you will integrate accessibility and inclusivity into all training and induction programmes to ensure that diverse learning needs are supported.

Our high-achieving Philanthropy Team is looking to recruit a Philanthropy Manager to help grow our donor portfolio and further increase philanthropic income for the RSPB. You will be responsible for cultivating a portfolio of prospects and donors through a range of engagement, to gain their financial support for programmes, projects and the wider RSPB. What's the role about?
As a team player with a positive and diligent approach, you will:
- Look after your own portfolio of donors as well as reaching out to prospects and new donors. You will be responsible for fundraising information to advance plans and ensure prospect and donor records are accurate, incorporating any changes, new activities, updated plans, and new information as well as adding new relationships in keeping with data protection and team procedures.
- Work closely with your team and wider organisation colleagues to implement solicitation strategies, to secure financial support either by direct solicitation, preparing a written proposal, or working with senior management to make a solicitation.
- Be involved in the development of funding proposals for approved priority projects that will inspire potential donors to secure gifts.
- Contribute to the planning of and participate actively in events (face to face and online) to build relationships with donors and prospects for future income and to demonstrate the impact of gifts already received.
- Arrange meetings with individual donors at a variety of venues, including at our reserves, working closely with area and reserve colleagues to deliver an excellent experience for our supporters
- Be jointly responsible for the planning, writing, production and mailing of Philanthropy Matters, our publication aimed at philanthropic supporters.
- Build effective relationships both within the RSPB and external to it that will enhance its reputation and ultimately secure funding. This includes understanding donors’ wishes and aspirations and identifying links with approved priority projects with the aim of securing substantial gifts.
Essential skills, knowledge and experience:
- Intermediate levels of fundraising as demonstrated by work successes and recognised fundraising courses
- Experience in how to research and cultivate a prospect. And understanding of how to write a cultivation strategy
- Ability to write funding proposals and prepare briefing documents in advance of meetings and events
- Competent in the use of a CRM system (Salesforce), the Microsoft suite, other databases, research tools and methods
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels
- Ability to work collaboratively with team members, and people and teams outside of our department
- Good judgement when working with donors and ability to recognise potentially sensitive areas between prospects and the RSPB to ensure reputational values are maintained

About Social Change Lab
Social Change Lab is a nonprofit conducting and disseminating social movement research to help solve the world’s most pressing problems. Historically, social movements conducting disruptive campaigns seem to have been crucial in driving significant political, social and economic change. Despite this, there has been little research systematically analysing the effectiveness of social movements and the strategies or tactics that most influence the success of these campaigns. Our research addresses this neglected knowledge gap and provides actionable advice to advocates and philanthropists working on a variety of important issues, with a focus on animal advocacy and climate change. About the role

In 2023 we launched the National Education Nature Park - a Department for Education funded programme empowering young people to take action on the environment as part of new measures designed to put climate change and sustainability at the heart of education. This is a GLA funded role as part of the wider DfE funded programme.
As Senior Programme Officer you will build and access networks that support education settings to connect with nature through the programme, and build skills for engaging and influencing nature on their estate. The Senior Programme Officer will also manage a programme officer to enable a broad range of schools and education settings to participate in the programme. As a regional team you will work to establish widespread, meaningful and sustained engagement with the programme.
Reporting to the Nature Park Senior Programme and Partnerships Manager, you will map schools in the London region to identify priority areas, and connect with senior school leaders across the region to engage them with the programme. You will develop partnerships and networks at a regional level with local authorities, businesses, and organisations in the education and charity sectors to provide additional support for schools and help sustain them on their Nature Park journey. You will work with the central programme team and partnership to build support systems for schools and settings that address barriers to participation, which may involve training and tapping in to existing volunteer networks and running events.
We are looking for a collaborative, creative individual with a passion for plants and the environment; someone who is experienced at partnership development and with a proven track record in project management.
You will work within a multidisciplinary project group including partners and colleagues with specialist scientific and community engagement knowledge and skills. Building and sustaining effective collaboration will be key to success in this role. You will be a confident communicator and listener with excellent planning and organisational skills. National Education Nature Park is a partnership project led by the Natural History Museum, working alongside the Royal Horticultural Society, the Royal Society, Royal Geographical Society, Learning through Landscapes, Manchester Metropolitan University and additional supporting partners.
The National Education Nature Park engages children, young people and their educators with nature, supporting young people in England to play a driving role in mapping and monitoring biodiversity on their grounds using citizen science and, critically, taking action to enhance it.
From creating pollinator friendly habitats where biodiversity can thrive, to creating planting schemes that support climate resilience. The project will showcase what can be achieved on the Education estate.

The successful candidate will be the first point of contact in leading communications for the Solent Seascape Project : a five-year, multi-million-pound conservation project delivered by a partnership of ten organisations. The project aims to reconnect the Solent into a functioning seascape by improving the condition, extent, and connectivity of key marine and coastal habitats using protection and restoration initiatives. The role requires someone who can input and deliver the projects communications strategy, with a view to significantly increasing engagement and reach of the project.
Salary: £27,000 - £30,000 depending on experience. Pro rata to part time hours.
Contract: 18 months initially with potential for extension
Hours: Flexible, up to 24 hours per week, days/ hours to be agreed
Location: Flexible. Regular travel to the Solent with some travel to London

Role & responsibilities:

Manage, maintain and deliver the Solent Seascape Project (SSP) communications strategy

Oversee all press, media and communications for the project

Co-ordinate all press activities and write press releases relevant to SSP activities

Chair the SSP Media and Comms Working Group meetings

Work with project partners to create and upload website content and news stories

Ensure that relevant and newsworthy content is promoted on the projects social media accounts including Instagram, Twitter/X and Facebook, and work with the wider Blue Marine media unit to promote relevant material on Blue Marine’s social media accounts

Write and manage monthly newsletters to SSP partners and subscribers

Commission, review and input into the SSP films with the project team

Edit and proof-read communication and engagement materials, ensuring they adhere to SSP branding guidelines

Create infographics and other engaging communication assets for the SSP project

Support the planning and implementation of outreach activities and events for SSP with Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust

Help to co-ordinate oyster volunteering events with project team

Scope and secure opportunities to collaborate with local ambassadors and influencers

Asset bank management of Solent imagery and videos throughout all partner activities

Regularly check and subscribe to relevant news platforms and websites to ensure that the projects social media account is current and up to date

About the role
This is a UK facing public affairs role that is responsible for developing and implementing appropriate strategies to map, build and maintain the National Oceanography Centre’s relationship with stakeholders, regionally and nationally.The main focus of the role is growing our UK Government partnerships, influencing ocean policy and associated funding, and ensuring NOC retains its position as the key expert in ocean issues, as well as ensuring strong relationships with key stakeholders in our space whilst developing new and exciting relationships.
Other main duties include:
Monitor political activity in key UK government departments (DSIT; DEFRA; FCDO; Transport; MOD) and provide strategic input to senior leaders and the wider team on the policy, procedural and political challenges facing NOC.
Manage NOC’s relationships with parliamentarians and their staff
Horizon scan to identify possible issues/opportunities in the evolving public policy environment and lead the development of solutions that position NOC as a trusted science partner
Lead NOC’s role in the All-Party Parliamentary Group for the Ocean
Lead NOC’s input into parliamentary inquiries, events and select committees
Draft policy papers, briefings, consultation, and committee responses
Advise the UK Government and a wide range of industry partners on NOC’s scientific and technological capabilities and position the relevant experts to provide advice.
About you
We are looking for an individual with exceptional communication and influencing skills with experience working with navigating sectors such as media, Public relations, lobbying and brand development, who will be able to objectively recognise the value relationships could bring to NOC and have experience of monitoring and upkeeping those important links. Experience in working in a technical or scientific organisation would be desirable for the ability to clearly translate science and research for different audiences, and relate those concepts to accessible areas of interest and calls to action for NOC.
We also need to see demonstrated knowledge and experience of developing policy asks and working with government bodies, regulatory bodies or NGOs.
We are looking for a pro-active and flexible individual who can navigate changing political landscapes to develop strong external relationships as well as being comfortable making recommendations at executive and board level.
You will be a considerate communicator with both the outward facing responsibilities and all-important internal relationship building to stay abreast of the variety of NOC’s interactions with Government through a wide variety of personnel, as well as being a trusted advisor to senior leadership.
