This is a great opportunity to join the UK Committee for UNICEF (UNICEF UK) as the Head of Events and Experiences, based in the Events and Experiences Team. The role is responsible for delivering and developing an exciting programme of in-person touchpoints that deliver against varied KPIs and engage multiple targeted audiences. In addition, you will support on the research and implementation of new and innovative events and campaigns.
You will have experience of delivering against an ambitious strategy, have strong team leadership skills and proven expertise in shaping engagement moments that deliver maximum impact for organisations. You will be able to evidence effectively working in large complex organisations, delivering across multiple projects and events. You will need to be a polished communicator, experienced at speaking to an array of senior internal and external stakeholders. An innovative, creative approach is desired and an ability to work in a collaborative environment is essential.

About the role
The Philanthropy Coordinator will primarily deliver key administration support for UK Youth’s Avon Tyrrell Capital Appeal; including developing donor communications, managing the project plan spreadsheet, maintaining accurate CRM data records, conducting prospect research and drafting funding requests. They will work closely with the Director of External Relations (lead of the Capital Appeal) and PA to the Director of External Relations in managing the Avon Tyrrell Capital Appeal board, and support the wider Engagement team in core Philanthropy and Events administration.
This role is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to start or transfer their career to the fundraising sector, motivated by ensuring young people in the UK are equipped to thrive. You will be exposed to a variety of fundraising activity and have the opportunity to contribute to some high-level philanthropy work.
The Avon Tyrrell Capital Appeal is on track to raise £6.4 million to regenerate and build a new experiential learning centre at UK Youth’s outdoor learning centre, Avon Tyrrell in the New Forest. The Avon Tyrrell Capital Appeal was launched in October 2023 by HRH The Princess Royal at an event in the New Forest. The event attracted many prospective donors with whom we are now in advanced positive discussions with on supporting the appeal, including our lead gift.
The role sits within the Engagement Team which collectively covers Philanthropy, Individual Giving, Supporter Communications, and Events. The Engagement team forms part of the successful External Relations department which is also responsible for Corporate, Trust and Foundation fundraising and the Digital, Marketing and Communications team.
You will be excellent at project management and able to write clearly and persuasively about the work of UK Youth and our outdoor learning provision.

As Chief Growth Officer, you will provide inspirational leadership to your team in MMI and work closely with leaders across the network to support the development and delivery of highly effective growth strategies to expand the global supporter base and increase sustainable funding streams. This will be achieved through the development of high-profile campaigns, grassroots support, powerful storytelling, optimising technology, strengthening of our national affiliate network, developing strategic partnerships and high-value philanthropic initiatives.
Key responsibilities:
- Oversee the development and delivery of a compelling communications and marketing strategy, including targeted breakthrough initiatives, that will raise awareness of Mary’s Meals and inspire new audiences.
- Oversee the development and implementation of an ambitious philanthropy strategy to include foundations, institutions, corporations, major donors and other strategic or philanthropic partners.
- Proactively identify and cultivate new global partnerships and relationships.
- Encourage and support the formation of new International Fundraising Groups and National Affiliates.
- Play a key role in MMI’s Executive Leadership Team (ELT) working closely with the CEO, Chief Officers, Director of People and Culture, the MMI Board and other leaders across Mary’s Meals.
- Lead, develop, coach and inspire a high-performing team of senior leaders.

his individual will be able to evidence high-level strategic thinking and be comfortable delivering campaigns when required. War Child UK run multiple large scale appeals, events and initiatives across the year targeting a diverse range of audiences.
Some of the key responsibilities:
- Leading on strategically planned engagement and growth across all our communications audiences, channels and initiatives. Including defined communications moments, brand engagement, UK advocacy communications and cross departmental campaigns.
- Own War Child UK’s voice and brand, providing consistency in tone and messaging across all channels and ensuring that our voice and brand is engaging to our wide range of audiences
- Lead on creating and assessing opportunities for cross departmental communications campaigns to increase fundraising and/or brand awareness, including overarching narratives and key campaigns each year
- To provide first-rate line management to the Communications & Content team and line manage the Marketing Lead and PR Manager. You will model excellence in management that will result in the team thriving in their roles, with high standards of performance and behavior, and team members that are developed to achieve their best, whilst maintaining strong wellbeing. As a Head of, you will model these high standards of performance and behavior to support the Fundraising Engagement Director and other functions across War Child UK.
- Use your experience to provide insight and recommendations to the Fundraising Engagement Director and War Child UK CEO when communications decisions are needed
- In most instances you will be accountable for the successful delivery of campaigns led by others in your team, in some instances – including cross departmental communications campaigns - you will lead on end to end delivery
You will be:
- Strategic, with experience of designing and delivering communications strategies across a wide portfolio
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a high degree of emotional intelligence to deal with a variety and internal and external stakeholders and the ability to build effective working relationships at all levels.
- A diverse knowledge of communications delivery, with the ability to transfer this knowledge and adapt your experience to different audiences, objectives and campaigns
- Experience of team resource and people management and able to delegate tasks in a clear and concise manner.
- A clear understanding of the importance of brand behaviour and having a strong tone of voice. You are able to use this to instil ways of working across an organisation to achieve success
- Able to set up and manage a successful press function
- Experience of policy and advocacy initiatives, delivering public facing advocacy campaigns and getting traction in the media
- Experience of humanitarian emergencies and managing a media responses to work for a UK market.

As we move into large-scale programme delivery and evaluation, we are expanding the Programmes and Grant Directorate with two new Heads of Programmes roles. Each postholder will lead the development and implementation of a major area of programming, overseeing high quality delivery and ensuring that the work we fund generates robust evidence and insight.
As Head of Programmes, you will manage the work of a cross-functional team delivering a programme of grants, research, evaluation, communications, youth involvement and associated activity. You will provide programme leadership, ensuring that this range of activity is aligned to programme objectives and Youth Futures’ overall strategic aims. You will coordinate programme-related work across the organisation, fostering collaboration in pursuit of a shared purpose.
You will make connections to relevant stakeholders and wider debates, positioning Youth Futures as an organisation at the forefront of thinking and practice in your programme area(s). You will work closely with externally-facing colleagues to feed learning and insight from funded programmes into our policy work, employer engagement and public communications. At the heart of the role is management and oversight of a thematic grants programme, ensuring that funded delivery is of high quality and enables Youth Futures to deepen and build the evidence base of what works in youth employment.
