The British Heart Foundation (BHF) is seeking a talented individual with copywriting, design, and project management skills to produce compelling fundraising propositions and bespoke communications for high-value supporters.
About the role
As High Value Communications Manager, you'll produce a range of written and designed materials for major donors, trusts, foundations, and corporate partners. You'll also work collaboratively across the BHF including with fundraisers, grant managers and health insight professionals to identify effective narratives and advise on funding opportunities. You'll write and design compelling cases for support as well as proposals, applications, updates, and donor impact reports.
Philanthropic activity is growing rapidly at the BHF. Our teams are securing more and more six-figure donations from individuals, trusts, and foundations, winning high-profile corporate partnerships, opening new markets, and offering first-rate engagement opportunities for our supporters.
You'll join the team at exciting and ambitious time, where we seek to accelerate major giving and generate transformational gifts for a range of ambitious research projects and flagship initiatives.
Working arrangements
This is a blended role, where your work will be dual located between your home and our London office.
At the BHF we believe in the power of being together, so our colleagues on blended contracts can expect to spend some time in their office, at least one day each week, on average. The use of our office spaces is driven in part by your role and the activities you need to do. This may vary from time to time, so you will need to work in a flexible way to unlock your best work for our cause.

About you
To succeed in the role, you should have:
- Proven experience of showcasing the impact of a charitable organisation for an audience of high-level donors, preferably in a medical science context, to foster repeat and lifelong support.
- Proven experience of producing high specification documents for a discerning readership, encompassing experience in copy writing, desktop publishing including InDesign and the effective use of images.
- Demonstrable project management experience, preferably in producing short and longform written materials from conception to delivery, in both digital and hard copy formats.
- Experience of working with internal and external stakeholders towards a common goal.
- Ability to work autonomously and deliver high quality work to a deadline.
- Familiarity with fundraising databases such as OneCRM and Raiser's Edge databases, would be a valuable bonus.

About CHSF
Established in 1988, the Children’s Heart Surgery Fund (CHSF) is a regional charity providing support for children and adults born with congenital heart disease and their families. Since inception, we have awarded over £6 million in grants to the Leeds Congenital Heart Unit, its patients, and their families, as well as funding important research proposals. All thanks to the overwhelming generosity of the public, corporate supporters, trusts and the amazing efforts of our supporters who often become in aid of fundraisers.
Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) is the most common birth defect and cause of infant mortality. It affects around 1% of new-born babies annually, 1 baby in 125. 1,600 babies, children and adults undergo surgery/interventional procedures including 420 open-heart surgeries at Leeds Congenital Heart Unit (LCHU) each year. Most of these infants will need lifelong care and often multiple surgeries/ procedures.
CHSF provides valuable equipment, resources, and research, as well as providing a support service for both the children and their families during their hospital stay.
Job Summary
As Events Fundraiser you will be responsible for developing a professional fundraising relationship with our family supporters, individuals, and groups across the community of Yorkshire. This includes supporting and retaining existing supporters and being proactive in developing new opportunities to increase funding. You will also be responsible for all aspects of creating and delivering the CHSF events calendar and stewarding the supporters taking part in our events.
You will raise awareness of the work of CHSF and highlight its fundraising initiatives as well as actively encouraging others to participate in CHSF events.

Key Responsibilities
· Develop key relationships with family supporters, community groups and individuals across the local region.
· Organise, manage, and deliver an engaging calendar of fundraising events, growing participation and income.
· Liaise with external providers such as challenge events companies to provide third party events and recruit participants.
· Lead on every aspect of each CHSF event, including pre-event logistics, promotion, recruitment, risk assessment and on the day delivery.
· Manage and promote CHSF’s annual “Wear Red Campaign” and encourage participation.
· Support fundraisers with their events/fundraising and ensure that the necessary help, support and advice is provided throughout.
· Develop relationships with all fundraisers to steward and encourage them to continue supporting through other events.
· Organise, manage, deliver specific events for our families e.g. Christmas party.
· Deliver fundraising targets and manage budgets effectively.
· Raise awareness of the charity and highlight the valuable work of CHSF throughout the region.
· Manage your time effectively and work collaboratively with the fundraising team.
· Organise and promote CHSF events on social media, inc Facebook Instagram and Twitter.
· Work with the marketing team to identify event fundraisers to feature on social media and as case studies.
· Develop effective working relationships across the charity and work collaboratively across teams.
· Attend ward visits to meet families/patients (when appropriate). Develop relationships with medics and nursing professionals on the ward.
· Record all relevant information on the database as required and maintain up to date records. Acknowledge all donations and support as required.
· Adhere to data protections rules.

Community Fundraiser – Wales and West England (Fixed Term Contract)

The Fire Fighters Charity offers specialist, lifelong support for members of the UK fire services community, empowering individuals to achieve mental, physical and social wellbeing throughout their lives.

The Role
Building relationships with the fire and rescue services in your area, you’ll become an integral part of the local fire services community. You’ll join a nation-wide team of inspiring and innovative fundraisers, working collaboratively to secure the much-needed income for the Charity.
Helping to coordinate events, support fundraising initiatives and implement new ideas, you’ll support your people, stations, and offices to raise awareness of the Charity and achieve and exceed income targets, as well as working with local businesses and people to maximise our fundraising potential.
By generating the income, we need to realise our ambitions you will help us to be there for even more members of the fire and rescue community.

About You
We’re looking for an enthusiastic and innovative fundraiser to join our team, full of ideas and a positive attitude.
You’ll need excellent business and project planning skills, as well as the ability to multi-task and adapt your communication style to your audience.
You’ll be responsible for maximising the potential fundraising income from every initiative you support, so you must be able to effectively engage with multiple stakeholders and build strong networks.
You’ll also be able to support and inspire our volunteers, ensuring that these vital links between our Charity and the fire and rescue services are happy and fulfilled in their roles.
Reporting to the Fundraising Manager, you’ll be an excellent communicator with exceptional organisational skills and a ‘can do’ attitude.

About this job
We're looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Senior Events Fundraiser to join our well-respected team responsible for full project management of a range of third party events.
Our Third Party Events team are working to raise up to £2m+ across a range of activities in 2024, and we need brilliant people to help achieve our ambitious fundraising goals.
In this role, you'll be responsible for managing a portfolio of third party challenge events to target, and for innovating, developing and delivering new fundraising activities.
You'll also be monitoring and evaluating all products to create opportunities for future growth. This role is customer-focused and you'll spend lots of time stewarding our amazing supporters to maximise their fundraising.
This is an exciting opportunity to steward fundraising teams of significant size, as well as helping to shape the future third party events strategy.
The portfolio is well-established and includes a mixture of events activities, including runs, cycles and challenges. You'll have contact with event participants and supporters and manage relationships with a number of third party agencies, while working with other colleagues in our Community and Events team.

Families Out Loud (FOL) is a Wiltshire charity working with families challenged by someone else’s drug and alcohol dependency, supporting them to bravely build a better life. We want to reach every family impacted by drug and alcohol use so they can speak out, free from stigma, and receive the support, care and help they need. About the role
As a Marketing Coordinator working with Families Out Loud, you will be an energetic person who is passionate about brand awareness. You will complete themed projects encompassing both digital outputs and local community relationship building (e.g. launch of a new service – for example our new Teen Support engagement – or promoting upcoming events and driving target audience attendance). About Vale Wildlife Hospital
Vale Wildlife Hospital is one of the UK’s largest wildlife rehabilitation hospitals, treating over 7,500 sick, injured, and orphaned animals and birds every year, with an aim to release as many of those casualties as possible, back to the wild, where they belong.
Vale Wildlife Hospital was founded back in 1984 and this year, celebrates 40 years of ‘Helping Britain’s Wildlife’.
The hospital is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year for any wildlife casualties to be brought in. Our trained staff also attend large mammal ‘call outs’ and assist emergency services with wildlife, when needed.
Our current running costs are over £60,000 every month and we receive no government funding.
Now we need to make a change to secure the future of Vale Wildlife Hospital, exploring networks and establishing a new model of philanthropic giving, building a pipeline of new supporters.

Role Purpose
This new role has been created to develop the charity’s grant income through compelling and bespoke applications to Trusts and Foundations in support of Vale Wildlife Hospital. To secure gifts and lasting relationships from individuals for our priority programmes.
Your experience of developing strong relationships with supporters, clients or customers alongside your confident, clear, and persuasive written and verbal communication skills will stand you in good stead to thrive in this new role.

Main Duties
Key Tasks
- To take responsibility for securing donations from grant making Trusts and Foundations.
- To research and apply for eligible funding opportunities, having responsibility of the process (initial application through to monitoring and reporting).
- Ensure your approach follows the charity’s internal processes and policies, and abide to all relevant legislation, regulations, and industry standards.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all fundraising activity, including proposals, applications, and donor interactions, and be able to regularly report this activity back to the Management Team.
- Create compelling cases of need to help tell the ‘story’ and vision of Vale Wildlife Hospital.
- Support the development and delivery of an effective legacy-giving campaign.
General Duties
- Represent the organisational ethos and values to supporters and stakeholders.
- Attend events, networking opportunities, and other external meetings to build relationships with potential donors and raise the profile of the charity, ad hoc as time allows.

The Community and Events team are passionate and hard-working fundraisers, raising over £1,000,000 each year through their care and stewardship of our incredible supporters.
