Job Description

Part time - 14 hours per week (2 days)

The Prince's Trust is a youth charity that helps change young lives. We give practical and financial support, developing key workplace skills, such as confidence and motivation. We work with 13 to 30-year-olds who have struggled at school, have been in care, are long-term unemployed or have been in trouble with the law. We have helped more than 825,000 young people since 1976 and support 100 more each working day. More than three in four young people we helped last year moved into work, education or training. We are committed to equality and valuing diversity.

The Communications Manager role will be responsible for developing news stories and media opportunities in line with the communications strategy. The role will manage media relations for key national Prince's Trust partnership accounts, identifying mutually compatible objectives for media coverage.

You will have experience of proactive media relations, event PR, feature placement and issues-based campaigns. Excellent writing skills are essential. You will also have an in-depth knowledge of the media and their needs and an ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.

You will ideally have experience in youth-facing media, including sport, music, fashion and social media.

The Prince's Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful applicant will be required to apply for an enhanced DBS check.
