We are looking for a PR and media coordinator to help increase the reach and influence of Spinal Injuries Association within the UK. They will create engaging and dynamic content to reach new audiences and inspire existing ones to support campaigns and raise awareness of our work.
By supporting the PR and media manager with a focus on writing and timely storytelling, this role will ideally suit someone with journalistic credentials who is able to identify, research and deliver stories that enhance SIA’s standing as the expert guiding voice for life after spinal cord injury.
PR & Media Coordinator
Location: Milton Keynes - We offer hybrid working with the expectation of three days per week in the office.
Salary: £34,178 per annum
Contract: Permanent
Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday – Friday
Role requirements include:
- Create and share stories/press releases that highlight our services and SIA’s wider strategic goals, with a focus on people with spinal cord injury, their lived experiences and how we support them.
- Create a media forward planner for all key activities and opportunities– internal and external.
- Lead on case studies from our members and supporters and encourage others to share their stories, ensuring this content can be accessed via the CRM in line with GDPR rules.
- Support the PR and media manager in building relationships with journalists and influencers so that we become the go to place for comment on all issues that affect people with spinal cord injury.
- Identify proactive or reactive media opportunities where SIA could add comment to enhance our campaigning aims or tell the story of those we support.
- Working with the PR and media manager to support the engagement plan for each of our ambassadors to increase their reach and influence.
- Identify new influencers to increase our reach and nurture new relationships.

Job summary
Malaria No More UK are looking for an enthusiastic and driven Senior Media and Communications Manager to support the Head of Communications on the leadership, planning and delivery of MNMUK’s media strategy to raise awareness, engage stakeholders and drive support for our cause. This role will support MNMUK’s campaigning and activity in the UK and internationally, working across the organisation and working closely with colleagues leading our advocacy, government relations, political campaigning and partnerships work. This role will also support MNMUK’s corporate communications work, specifically copywriting our core organisational materials, including board & annual reports.
Key responsibilities
Communications:
- Lead and deliver Malaria No More UK’s media strategy, including relationship building with media outlets, journalists and influencers to drive tactical, political and news media coverage.
- Lead on the development and management of pro or low bono partnerships with UK and global media organisations.
- Produce written media materials such as press releases, Q&As and spokesperson briefings.
- Lead and develop MNMUK’s corporate and campaign written materials such as donor reports, annual & board reports, fundraising applications and website copy, ensuring that we have a consistent and powerful style that aligns with our brand, values and creative content approach.
- Advise and support on media activity in other markets, including Kenya.
- Source and manage spokespeople for media and communications opportunities, working closely with our Head of Ambassador Relations & Creative Partnerships and our Strategic Communications and Engagement Manager.
- Support MNMUK’s Philanthropy and Partnerships team with media and communication support for our corporate partners, institutional donors, and philanthropic foundation partners, including monitoring partner media, developing joint communications, and representing the communications team at partner meetings.
- Act as a key representative of the MNMUK communications team in meetings and planning for our UK campaigning, ensuring other members of the communications team are brought in to support when needed.
- Build external relationships and networking within NGO and communications sectors.
- Keep abreast of trends and best practice in communications and horizon scanning.
- Media monitoring and reporting, including the sourcing and management of databases, platforms and other services to support our media work.
Strategy:
- Development and implementation of Malaria No More UK’s media work to support our UK and international strategies, including taking responsibility for media planning, reporting and management to allow monitoring of progress against plan.

Qualifications, skills and experience

- A proven track record of working with UK media to support advocacy campaigns for a range of UK and international audiences.
- A deep understanding and experience of political and news media in the UK.
- Exceptional copy writing skills for media and corporate communications products.
- Experience of working with partners and PR agencies to deliver strategic and politically salient media work in international markets.
- Experience of delivering media plans to support collaborative, multi-partner projects and campaigns.
- Experience of working as part of a multi-discipline communications team, integrating media plans alongside digital strategies and creative content.

The British Academy – the UK’s national body for the humanities and social sciences - Is seeking a Content Producer to join our Digital, Brand and Marketing department, to work with the Content and Production Manager to execute an exciting new content strategy for the Academy’s outputs.
The Role
The Content Producer will work closely with the Content and Production Manager and the Deputy Head of Digital (Content and Production) to produce exciting new high-quality video, audio and written digital content as part of our new content strategy. They will be responsible for updating the website, conducting research, creating ideas for content and managing projects from conception to delivery. Through this work, the Content Producer will have the opportunity to work with leading experts in the humanities and social sciences and develop their skills in project management, relationship management, digital marketing and stakeholder engagement.
The Digital, Brand and Marketing team leads on the Academy’s digital outputs, including developing new digital assets and messaging for key digital channels. This role would best suit someone with significant experience leading policy research programmes – in a think tank, consultancy, central or local government, academia or similar. You will have strong analytical skills, including a track record of qualitative and quantitative research. You will have experience in fundraising, will have managed budgets, and will be confident working with researchers at different stages in their careers. However, we are less interested in what you have done, and more in what you can do.
This is ideally a full-time role; however, flexible working is embedded within our culture.
