It has never been a more important time for Crisis. With homelessness a growing issue across Great Britain, this role will play a critical part in raising the public and political profile of homelessness through the media in the run up to the General Election.
Contract: Fixed term contract up to 10-months
Location: London office based. Working from home is an option in line with Crisis’ Hybrid working policy. (You will be required to work from the London office once a week or twice a fortnight).
About the role
As News and Media Manager, you will lead a hard-working and experienced team of media experts to bring to life Crisis’ work, demonstrate the solutions needed to tackle homelessness and inspire the public and politicians to join our mission to end it for good. You will oversee the development and delivery of high-profile media and communications campaigns, including our annual Christmas appeal, helping to build our brand. This is a fixed term role covering a secondment in the team, and with an upcoming general election, this is an exciting time take up the role for the next 10 months.
About you
You will have significant experience of working in a challenging, fast-paced news and media environment to secure high-profile coverage and championing the voices of marginalised people. Experience and knowledge of managing and influencing senior internal and external stakeholders is essential in this role, as is the ability to navigate competing priorities to develop and implement creative media strategies that reach a diverse range of audiences.
To be successful in this role, you will be able to demonstrate excellent knowledge and experience of working with the media to help secure policy change at a national government level, outstanding people and project management skills and proven experience when it comes to handling reputational risk. You will also have exceptional news sense, with the ability to take a creative approach when seeking out new media opportunities.

We have an opportunity for a Customer Communications Specialist to join the Corporate Affairs Team on a 12 month fixed term basis, working 30 hours a week.
You'll be based from our Basingstoke office, although with offices in Bristol, Christchurch, Exeter and Newbury, we can be flexible on your base location.
The role will combine both home and office working to ensure a positive work/life balance.
The Role
You'll support the business in achieving its priorities through effective customer communications, advising on the right channels and messages to keep SNG's customers informed and engaged.
As a Customer Communications Specialist you'll create, develop, execute and project manage strategic and tactical communication plans. This will involve producing and delivering creative, engaging content and campaigns for our customers through multiple channels, including web, social media, email and SMS, direct mail and more.
It's an exciting time at SNG as we integrate our communications for former Sovereign and former Network Homes customers and establish a Community Foundation. You'll be part of supporting the transformation and change programme as we move forward together.
Other key responsibilities include:
- Working closely with key stakeholders, listening to and understanding their communication requirements and providing them with expert support.
- Working to align customer communications with external and internal communications, and with our strategy and values.
- Managing and measuring the effectiveness of our communications, including external benchmarking and best practice.
- Understanding the pressures and issues facing the social housing sector and keeping up to date with best practice in Communications and PR, particularly changes to communications innovation, legislation and codes of practice and sharing this insight with colleagues.
What we're looking for
This position would suit candidates who have previous Customer Communication experience, possibly in a housing association, local authority or similar non-profit organisation.
- Excellent written communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to adapt your tone and write copy/create campaigns designed to generate a response or change in behaviour.
- Demonstrable experience of producing engaging customer content and campaigns.
- Experience of briefing and working with designers and creatives.
- A good understanding of MS Office packages, including Word, Excel and Publisher.
- Use of email marketing and social media management platforms and tools.
- Experience of working to deadlines and achieving targets through own work and the work of partners.
- Work well within a small team and on your own initiative.
- Be highly organised with a methodical approach.
You may need to travel between our offices and attend external events on occasion, so you'll need access to transport and be happy to travel.

This is an exciting time to join Stoll in this new role in the Fundraising and Communications Team.
The role is full time and offered as hybrid working. It will support community fundraising activities including challenge and sponsored events, organising volunteer fundraising activities and working with local communities to raise funds for Stoll. The role also supports our communications functions at the organisation.

The Policy and Public Affairs Manager leads a team of 3.9FTEs working on policy, research, public affairs and public campaigning. Everyone in Shelter Cymru is in the business of preventing homelessness, and you will be doing this by overseeing the policy and campaigning process to help us deliver positive change that makes an impact on the lives of the people we serve. About the team
Sitting under the Communications and Engagement team at Shelter Scotland, our tight-knit team comprises of a Supporter Mobilisation Manager, a Senior Marketing and Brand Executive, a Marketing Executive as well as a Supporter Engagement Executive (this role). As a team, we work to deliver on Shelter Scotland’s ambitious strategy by leading our activities that help driver engagement both on a local and national scale.
Our team also works closely with our other colleagues in Communications and Engagement, whether that be Communications Executives and Content producers, or Web Developers and UX Designers, you’ll be working alongside our colleagues to help deliver our objectives in helping our fight to end the housing emergency.
About the role
Working as a Supporter Engagement Executive, you will use your expertise to coordinate and deliver projects that are driving engagement with our key audiences. You will ensure that we have a mass of people who can provide their voices in support of the work we do, as well as encouraging new and existing supporters to have a voice.
As an experienced Supporter Engagement Executive, you’ll be working with our Income Generation teams to support with fundraising and awareness projects to maximise our impact with Scottish audiences. Not only helping us to ensure that Shelter Scotland can deliver on its supporter strategy, you will use mass-mobilisation to achieve supporter growth which will help us to win our campaigns and achieve long-term change.
Your day to day role will involve working with the Supporter Mobilisation Manager to develop and test new supporter propositions and strategies, as well as producing powerful and engaging approaches and materials that align with our Shelter Scotland brand.
This role is vital in helping us to build strong supporter relationships and create long-term commitment to the work Shelter Scotland does and allow us to continue our fight.
About you
You’ll need to be confident on working on ambitious multi-channel awareness or fundraising campaigns that can drive supporter acquisition or retention, as well as being able to inspire and motivate our supporters to take action. As well as having excellent communication skills, you’ll be a data-driven individual who is able and confident to assess the impact of work while adopting a test and learn approach. What’s more, you’ll be knowledgeable on integrated channel planning as well as have a familiarity with paid media, including display, PPC, SEO and social media advertising. Ideally, you’ll also have experience of using CRM Systems, Google Analytics, and email marketing software as well as knowledge of digital fundraising platforms.

About the team
The Income Generation Directorate at Shelter comprises of 5 departments, delivering a mature fundraising programme that has seen continuous year on year diversity and growth. The directorate generates over £48m gross income each year, of which a high percentage is unrestricted. Our Corporate Partnerships team is split into two areas - New Partnerships which generates income by securing new relationships with private sector businesses, and the Partnership Management team, where this role sits, is responsible for the growth of Shelter’s voluntary income by managing and developing existing corporate partnerships spanning a variety of sectors. About the role
This is an essential and valued role within the Partnership Management team, as you will help design and deliver impactful partnerships to generate income to fund our vital work in response to the national housing emergency. You will lead on the employee fundraising and engagement activities across our valued corporate partnerships that include B&Q, Nationwide, HSBC UK, M&S and Network Rail. You will also lead on the success and development of a dedicated portfolio of partners, delivering colleague and customer facing fundraising and commercial campaigns to a high quality. You will utilise your proactive nature and creative skills to deliver new and innovative partnership activities that deliver against team targets and will be responsible for developing clear and efficient partnership plans to achieve these agreed goals. About the team
This new team sits under our Audience Engagement and Planning sub-directorate, created in early 2023, the team is still taking shape making it an exciting opportunity to help us in this crucial function.
The role is part of a 5-person Strategic Comms Team that has a primary mandate is focused on delivering a full range of integrated strategic across Shelter to ensure we’re delivering high quality and highly strategic public engagement approaches. In doing so, we ensure that all the work we deliver is planned and informed by Shelter’s brand principles; audience insight and evidence of what works.

About the role
It's an exciting time to be joining Shelter, and we’re looking for a proactive individual with exceptional stakeholder management skills. You’ll champion an insight-led approach and help us achieve our wider organisational goals.
As Shelter’s Brand Manager, you will act as brand guardian, acting as the first point of contact for any brand queries and working collaboratively with teams across the organisation in the development of both public and internal-facing communications, products, and projects. You will provide ongoing support for teams on how best to leverage the brand to drive maximum engagement, ensuring that all work is aligned to our brand and strategy and is informed by evidence and insight.
You will be instrumental in implementing the cross-organisational brand strategy, working closely alongside the Senior Brand Marketing Manager to develop and deliver training and inductions for internal teams, external agencies, and partners. Alongside this, you will proactively develop and implement ways of working and processes, as well as developing and distributing brand resources and assets, to ensure that teams are equipped to deliver work more efficiently and effectively.
About you
Well-versed in brand management, you will possess a clear understanding of the importance of strategy, knowledge of how to embed and maintain a brand, and how to ensure consistency across multiple channels, projects and products. Alongside your ability to confidently manage a diverse set of cross-organisational stakeholders and teams, you will be an impressive communicator, able to engage stakeholders through both verbal and written comms as well as via workshops and presentations. Strategically minded with a keen creative eye, you will have a proactive and solutions-focussed approach to your work, and be able to demonstrate project management skills alongside an understanding of the importance of insight and how it informs plans and activity.

THE ROLE
As we look to the future and how our services can best serve the people we help we are moving forward with a positive vision for growth, and are seeking a new business specialist to help spearhead this for us.
In this newly created role, you will be responsible for delivering on a new business strategy for the charity. We are a small and ambitious charity going through a period of significant change and therefore you will need to be willing to adapt as the needs of the charity and role change over time.
You will work closely with the Head of Business and CEO delivering targeted new income from local authority commissioning, tender opportunities, corporate giving, major donors and fundraising. You will provide line management for the existing Business Team members, alongside your own role responsibilities
Duties and Responsibilities
Fundraising and Income generation
Help set the overall strategy to deliver the charity’s new business growth objectives.
Deliver against these objectives on a timely and accountable basis.
Explore and action relevant tender opportunities in partnership with the Head of
Business and Bid writer.
Oversee the Fundraising Manager to deliver SMART’s Fundraising Strategy/ monitor and grow the fundraising impact for SMART.
In line with SMART’s Business Plan, develop and maintain excellent external relationships with local authorities, corporates, relevant local communities and major donors to deliver sustainable income that meets objectives.
Direct and develop communications (social & professional media/online news and releases).
Oversight of the charity’s regular giving channels and development/maintenance of it.
THE ROLE CONT...
Communications
Be the driving force to deliver SMART’s Communication Plan, ensuring SMART presents a professional, up to date and relevant image though all channels.
Support to review the effectiveness of the SMART Website and Intranet site, identifying and implementing improvements in line with organisational objectives.
Contribute to analysis of SMART’s social media accounts, including Facebook,
Instagram etc.
Managerial duties
Provide line management and appraisal for the Business team, including supervision to manage performance and against key targets
Provide direction, support and enable to perform their roles optimally.
Effectively communicate with and make sure team members are appropriately informed and resourced in order to do their jobs.
Provide guidance and supervision for any performance and capability issues.
Participate fully in SMART’s performance management and development process.
Be an active and contributing member of the management team.
To carry out any other duties and responsibilities in line with business need and to drive the organisation forward in accordance with its vision and aims.
Compliance
Ensures compliance with GDPR and other ICO requirements, particularly around fundraising and consent policies.

Assisting with fund raising events, activities and tasks as required
To participate in SMART’s performance management and development process.
To support SMART’s policy, audit and other governance work.
To carry out any other duties and responsibilities as required in line with operational needs.
To comply and fully cooperate with SMART’s policies and procedures.
This job description will be supplemented by annual objectives developed with the post holder. It will be subject to regular review and SMART CJS reserves the right to amend or add to duties.
ABOUT YOU
Essential Criteria
Demonstrable track record of leading and delivering on income generation for at least 3 years.
Demonstrable experience of developing sustainable relationships with corporate and major donors.
Evidence of effective self-management /personal organisation and as well as leading a team of others to achieve objectives to time and to budget.
Positive, Resilient and able to work with challenges and change: innovative, hands on and proactive leadership skills.
Ability to think and act for broader organisational aims and be a part of the management team.
Sound experience of managing promotional budgets and income targets.
Excellent communication skills both orally and in writing – for internal and external relationships.
Commitment to service user involvement and co-production in the development of new services or businesses aligned with homelessness and rough sleeping.
Commitment to promoting equality and diversity.
Driving licence and use of own car essential.
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and publishing tools.
Desirable Criteria
Ideally business development experience will have been gained in the not for profit sector.
A management /fundraising qualification and demonstrable commitment to ongoing professional development.
Knowledge of social/affordable housing sector.
Involvement in setting up of social enterprises, community interest companies or revenue generating business streams.
All team members are expected to show commitment to the quality of service offered to service users and to demonstrate a thoughtful and considered approach to their problems. Honesty, reliability, use of initiative and the ability to establish good working relationships with clients, colleagues and other service providers are considered essential attributes.
