Job description

Community Waves is a registered charity all about empowering and representing diverse communities, so as to make every voice count. We strive to understand the needs, experiences and concerns of people who use health and social care services and to effectively speak on their behalf. We build bridges between local people and decision makers to influence change in policy and practice.

We are recruiting an NHS Complaints Advocate to join our Independent NHS Complaints Advocacy team in Lewisham. You will share our core values and can demonstrate that you apply those values in your daily working practice. 

The post is part-time (14 hours) per week maternity cover. Service hours are 9.00 am-5.00 pm.  The post is for an initial 6 months, but may be extended up to 12 months.

You will plan, develop and provide independent support and advocacy for people who wish to make a complaint about care or treatment received from the NHS. 

You will need good working knowledge and experience of advocacy processes and of the NHS. The succesful candidate will be a strong, positive team player who is able to work with patients, carers and professionals. You will gain an understanding of issues by listening, exploring options and taking action as directed by our clients.  Support and supervision will be provided.

Strong communication and time management skills are required and you will need to have good IT skills.
