Who we are – The Scottish Schools Pipes and Drums Trust is a registered charity that supports young people to develop life skills through instrumental learning, performance and music making; and that helps safeguard our musical heritage.
What we are looking for – an entrepreneurial and driven person holding extensive experience of fundraising and with a genuine interest in making it easier for local volunteer groups to raise funds for their pipe-bands. There is tremendous scope for sponsorships and grants, creating opportunities for local people to leave gifts in their will, and advising on cost-effective event fundraising.

We have fantastic opportunity available for a Community Fundraiser to join our rewarding and growing team! This is an exciting home-based role which would suit someone looking to build and develop their fundraising experience or broaden their sector experience in a major national charity.
This role will have a strong focus on working with acquiring new support from our corporate and group/association partnerships in Bath & Wiltshire. The successful candidate will be able to deliver first class account management, as well as driving new business income (from prospecting through to pitch development and delivery).
You will join our Regional Engagement team to help deliver the regional budget. Success in your role will enable our colleagues to campaign for change, fund research to find a cure and support people living with dementia today.
Our team have a wealth of experience and skills to support you. In our team, help will always be there and being a team-player is essential. Recruiting, managing and appreciating the value of our supporters and volunteers is essential. You need to inspire and motivate them to develop lifelong support.
Being based in Bath or Wiltshire is not a requirement but occasional travel to/within the patch will be expected. We can offer flexibility on working pattern/days worked.
About you
- Experience in working within a Fundraising sector, particularly corporate acquisition/pipelining or community fundraising would be advantageous.
- Be a self-starter and can work within a fast-paced, creative, and diverse environment.
- Demonstrate your resourceful and inspirational nature, giving our supporters the best possible experience when raising incredible sums.
- Experience in conducting presentations to businesses and various groups (desirable)

We’re looking for an enterprising and experienced fundraiser who has hands-on experience of successful income generation, shaping strategy and delivering results.
You will bring a minimum of three years’ strategic experience leading on funding strategy, income generation, and/or social enterprise. You will be a strong communicator with the ability to motivate individuals and organisations across the county to diversify their funding and embrace opportunities for enterprise. You will engage across a wide range of media and audiences, encouraging strategic thinking, collaboration, and innovation.
Supported by the Spark Somerset team, we are seeking an expert who can lead on the development of this work. However, key activities could include:
- Facilitating a programme of high-quality training and support, encouraging groups to diversify their funding sources, and become more enterprising
- Identifying collaborative funding opportunities and support VCFSE (voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise) organisations to become ‘funding ready’
- Inspiring and strengthening the growth of Social Enterprise in Somerset
- Facilitating links with regional/national examples of successful enterprise and provide opportunities for mentoring and development
- Facilitating funding and funders forums, workshops and webinars
- Providing advice and information on trusts and foundations, corporate and individual giving, social investment and trading
- Bid writing support
- Supporting groups to develop their capacity and advise around issues of organisational development and sustainability
This is a freelance position, working up to 15 days per month at a rate of £250 per day (salaried options will be considered). Travel within Somerset will be required.
The contract will end on 31 March 2025, although this may be extended should additional funding become available.
This project is funded by the UK government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

Programme Design Advisor

Location: The role can be based in the UK, Kenya, Senegal or another location where WaterAid has a Country Programme, subject to right-to-work eligibility in the respective countries
For the UK Location, we offer hybrid working: A minimum of 40% of working time is spent face-to-face, in a WaterAid office. For UK-based staff, WaterAid is located at Canary Wharf, London and this will be your location and contract base.

About the Team:
This position will be based in the WaterAid UK Programme Operations Team within the International Programmes Department (IPD). IPD operates in over 17 countries with approximately 600 staff in total. The Programme Operations Team enables the effective management of the International Programmes Directorate (IPD) through the provision of robust high quality programme management policies, processes, tools, management information and systems.
About the Role:
The primary focus of the role is to support Country Programmes and Regional Teams in both project and programme design. This is primarily by (1) directly supporting the design and set up of specific projects, programmes and proposals, and (2) strengthening capacity of specific staff in project and programme design.
In this role, you will:
Support project (and programme) design and set-up processes
- Lead, facilitate, support and advise on quality project design and project set-up processes, focusing particularly on larger, complex or higher risk projects. These may be individual Country Programme or multi-country/region projects designed at the regional or global level.
- Review and provide feedback on project design outputs to help strengthen their quality. This could include situational analyses, theories of change, results frameworks, monitoring and evaluation plans, risk analyses, narrative proposals and budgets.
- Liaise closely with identified technical and policy specialists during project design and set-up processes to ensure projects are designed to deliver sustainable outcomes and align with Global and Country Programme Strategies, Quality Programme Standards and thematic approaches.
- In specific cases, support Country Programmes in the development/adaptation of their long-term programme plans and linked project portfolios
Strengthen organisational capacity in project design and project set-up
- Build and strengthen capacity in project design across WaterAid (globally), targeting particular staff categories, through training, mentoring, coaching and the development/refreshing of tools and guidance
- Develop engaging training materials and examples.
Strengthen project design and set-up guidance
- Maintain and strengthen the project and programme planning component of WaterAid's Planning, Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting (PMER) core procedures (often referred in our sector as MEL or MEAL) based on internal learning and sector good practice
About You:
- Significant proven experience in designing complex projects under rigorous deadlines and involving multiple stakeholders
- Excellent understanding of project design theories and approaches and their practical application
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with technical programme advisors, fundraisers and finance staff in order to develop sustainable, high quality, suitably resourced projects with clearly defined monitoring and evaluation processes
- Demonstrated ability to effectively coach and train others in project design and implementation
- Excellent understanding of the project design requirements and approaches of different donors (e.g. GAC, FCDO, USAID)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
- Strong interpersonal skills and networking skills with the ability to collaborate, influence and build alliances internally and externally
- Strong problem identification and problem solving skills
- Excellent computer literacy, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point etc.)
- Ability to travel up to 12 weeks per year
- Proven ability to work effectively with diverse cultures and adapt personal style to get the best out of others.
- Graduate degree or equivalent professional qualification/experience in international development
- Highly organised and proactive with the proven ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks and a complex work programme within deadlines
- Excellent attention to detail

Community Project Worker

Oasis South Bristol hub team is now in a position to employ a Community Project Worker to work alongside our Oasis Community Hub team in South Bristol and we are looking for a talented and adaptable person to join our busy team focussed on supporting our academies in Hengrove: Oasis John Williams and Oasis New Oak and the communities they serve.
The role will encompass community support activity as well developing and running school holiday provision.
Key responsibilities will be:
- To provide enrichment activities to the children’s youth work to include holiday schemes, afterschool and lunch time clubs.
- To develop a strong food poverty programme and offer support for the community through adult education, wellbeing, advocacy/family support and volunteering opportunities.
- To work alongside the Strategic Community Development Leader to develop funding and volunteer capacity which can support the Academies holistically across all of the Hub.
- To engage and work with families supporting them to access Hub services and activities to develop their skills, knowledge and aspirations.
The successful post holder must have:
- Proven experience of community development
- Self-motivation, resilience, with excellent organisational and inter-personal skills.
- Successful experience of working with parents / carers (voluntary or paid work)
- Successful experience of working with children and young people
- Experience working with challenging behaviours and attitudes
- Knowledge of safeguarding practices and health and safety
