Media & Communications Officer

This new part-time role (4 days, Monday and Friday required), is based in our Communications and Marketing Team (6 people) and will work closely with our Media Consultant.

Role of the Marketing and Communications Officer
Overall
We are seeking a person with marketing and communications expertise to help us build our audiences physically and virtually.
In this role you will:
- Lead on the delivery of key marketing objectives as set out in the marketing plan for 2023 to 2028.
- Contribute to the development and delivery of the marketing and audience development plans in response to need and opportunity.
- Oversee the NPHT social media accounts including creating content and sharing this with their audiences online including LinkedIn and facebook adverts.
- Promote NPHT events and opportunities including uploading events to the website and researching opportunities to promote to relevant contacts.
- Writing publicity content including press releases, newsletters, e-invites, website copy, promotional banners, and leaflets.
- Write and create events listings on the NPHT website and other platforms.
- Monitoring and responding to feedback from the media and public about the NPHT.
- Report monthly on KPIs to the NPHT team and quarterly to the Board.
- Direct the wider team on areas where they support the marketing plan.
In order to deliver this work, you will have the following skills:
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills, with the proven ability to write and produce engaging communications for a range of channels and audiences. In particular meeting the access needs of our audience.
- Experience of developing, delivering, and evaluating marketing and communications activities to meet agreed objectives and audiences.
- Ability to create, plan and implement exciting social media campaigns.

Reporting requirements
You will be part of the overall NPHT team, liaising with other consultants especially the Digital Content Manager. You will report to the Head of Programmes, providing monthly updates.
Contractual arrangements
Office based with flexibility to work from home. This role can be contractual or employed.

The Role
As an experienced campaign manager and copy-writer, you will support the Experience team to develop and deliver marketing approaches and journey communications, primarily for beneficiary and health/social care professional audiences. As a team, our aim is to ensure that these audiences are aware of the support they can access from the Stroke Association and to build meaningful connections with them for long-term engagement.

The postholder will be responsible for publicising Gresham lectures and speakers to the media to amplify our visibility, enhance our reputation, and attract new audiences to Gresham.
The post-holder will need to be able to translate complex, technical information into clear and engaging press releases and briefings. They will need to be capable of managing proactive, planned press work but also have the ability to react to events and enquiries as well. They should demonstrate a strong track record of working and placing articles with a variety of national / international / print / digital media outlets.

Responsibilities

What's on offer:

We are looking for an energetic and creative person to organise and deliver a calendar of engaging and inspiring energy and climate themed events and outreach activities across East Sussex. The events will cover the following themes: saving and sharing energy, insulation, solar and batteries, renewable heat, funding energy efficiency measures, creating healthy and mould-free homes etc.

You have been actively involved in climate action and engaging communities – whether campaigning, part of a volunteer group or in your own life, and you are committed to getting the information out there about the transition to zero carbon in a way that is engaging and brings communities together.
You have 2+ years of experience working on events. You bring a proactive attitude to the role. You are confident and self driven but enjoy working in cooperation to achieve common goals and to increase your impact. You are a creative thinker with some great ideas about how to engage communities in the transition to a fossil free future and ensure that no one is left behind.

Responsibilities
- Work in collaboration with the ESC team and stakeholders to design a programme of inspiring energy and climate themed events in Hastings, Rother, Eastbourne, and Wealden, reaching a total of 1000 residents across the year.
- Create engagement opportunities for your team at the events and activities of other organisations and local groups by networking and working with the Communications and Marketing person to promote our services.
- Find interesting speakers and organisations to participate in our events.
- Create public events for our No One Left Behind project, finding new, exciting ways to engage the public in conversation about energy and climate topics.
- Manage the administration and logistics of the events, including room bookings, ticket booking processes, etc.
- Look for opportunities to invite our funder along to events and participate in the activities.
- Manage relationships with staff team and volunteer Energy Champions on local events.
- Create event plans and risk assessments for each event.
- Work with the Marketing and Communications Officer and local volunteers to plan PR and promotion of events to agreed timelines.
- Create and work to agreed budgets.
- Ensure you are collecting the data needed to monitor and evaluate the project.
- Create inclusivity in the event registration and attendance experience to support people with a variety of needs.
- Ensure events feed into the wider work and services of Energise Sussex Coast.
- Provide event reports to manager detailing the number of attendees, write-up of the event, and feedback.

1. Educated to degree level or equivalent professional experience.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a passion for digital communications and creating engaging content for digital and social platforms. We are looking for someone with excellent communication and implementation skills, who will enjoy being creative and using their expertise to enhance SAT-7 UK digital communications. The Digital Content and Communications Officer (DCCO) reports to the Digital Communications Manager and has responsibility for the SAT-7 UK website, digital marketing and social media.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Website: Developing and updating SAT-7’s websites as inspiring platforms to raise profile, income and engagement.
Emails: Work with colleagues in the Communications Team and across the organisation to build, test and send responsive email templates for all SAT-7 UK’s email requirements (meeting SAT-7’s brand guidelines and conforming to industry standards). Use email marketing tool DotDigital to develop automated communications that strengthen supporter engagement and convert recipients into committed donors.
Content: Deliver engaging and inspiring rich media content across a range of digital channels, including web, email, social media and other digital marketing platforms.
Social Media: Work closely with other team members to deliver strong social media content and engagement across various platforms, chiefly Facebook, Instagram, X, YouTube, LinkedIn.
Marketing: Support the digital marketing of SAT-7 resources and campaigns through social media advertising, external agencies and other channels as required, to engage more deeply with existing supporters and donors, acquire new supporters and to raise funds for SAT-7 UK.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- In all communication ensure consistent messaging, branding and tone of voice for the intended audience and that content conforms to the security and style guides.
- Use Customer Relationship Management systems to ensure efficient and secure storage of information.
- Assist members of the team in responding appropriately to communications from supporters and other organisations.
- Liaise with SAT-7 staff from other offices to share ideas and resources.
- Assist the Digital Communications Manager and represent SAT-7 UK at conferences and events as required.

Raising Futures Kenya is an award-winning small UK charity, working closely alongside a wonderful partner NGO in Kenya to deliver a hugely successful vocational training and business skills programme called Seed of Hope.
Since 2002 Seed of Hope has supported over 4,000 disadvantaged young people aged 14-25 in Kenya with the opportunity to learn a skilled trade, computer skills and business skills. Many of these young people are unable to finish their formal education as they are experiencing poverty, so our courses are completely free, to ensure no-one is excluded from the opportunity to learn.

We are looking for a talented storyteller and writer to join our small team in the UK and create exceptional content. You’ll support with crafting engaging funding applications, which stand out from the crowd and capture the funders hearts. You’ll create bright and positive social media and blog posts to share the uplifting stories of students and graduates from Seed of Hope and grow our online supporter base, in turn increasing our donors.
We don’t mind if you don’t have charity experience, we’re willing to train you and show you what we do. We are looking for someone who can write excellent content and showcase what we do.
Hours: 14 hours per week, to be worked as either full 7 hour days, or spreading the hours across the week. Regular days and hours to be agreed in advance.
Salary: £28,000 (pro-rata for 14 hours a week)

Contract: 1 year fixed term contract. With a view to making it permanent if resources allow.
Base: The role will be home-based and require your own computer. Occasional travel may be required for meetings, expenses will be paid in accordance with our Expenses Policy.
