About us

CCLC, part of the Coram group of charities, is an independent charity working in the United Kingdom and around the world to protect and promote the rights of children, through the provision of direct legal services; the publication of free legal information online and in print; research and policy work; law reform; training; and international consultancy on child rights. CCLC was founded in 1981 and has over 30 years’ experience in providing legal advice and representation to children, their parents and carers, and professionals throughout the UK. We hold legal aid contracts to deliver legal services in each of those areas.

Our Community Care team represents children and young people in need of support from social services and other public bodies, often as a result of their status as refugees or asylum seekers, being victims of trafficking, facing abuse, homelessness, immigration detention, or managing with disability, physical and mental health problems. We are dedicated to promoting and protecting children’s rights, through both our case work and our involvement in wider projects. The team works closely with colleagues in the immigration, family and education law teams, as well as collaborative working with other organisations within the Coram group, including Coram Voice advocacy service and the Migrant Children’s Project.
