Kent County Council and Coram have worked together through a successful partnership to manage and improve the adoption service. This has resulted in excellent outcomes for both looked after and adopted children, as well as more confidence in the overall service. The partnership continues with a renewed work plan which includes further developing of the post adoption service.
The Post Adoption Support Team have been described by OFSTED as being clinically excellent and have also received a national award for clinical excellence. It is a Multi-disciplinary team consisting of Social Workers, Clinical Psychologist, Family therapist, occupational therapist, Clinical Lead and Manager. The team’s vision is to provide brief and focused therapeutic interventions through case work and to continue to develop a menu of evidence based interventions including parenting programmes, structured support groups, learning and development seminars, etc. The team provides support following an Adoption Order being granted.
Purpose of the Role:
To provide expert clinical interventions to adopters and children once an adoption order is granted. The post holder will provide group, family and individual interventions to adoptive families; advice and support to the network around the child, including schools; develop and deliver training for adopters in areas of child and adolescent development and consultative support to other team members and social workers in the adoption service teams when required. The post holder would be required to fully embrace and support Coram Kent County Council and Coram’s vision for developing a multi-disciplinary team with a team around the child approach within the national adoption reform agenda.
