Since its inception in 1936, Coram’s Fields has existed for one reason only, to provide a space dedicated to the children of London, where they can roam freely and safely in an environment that remains unique to this day.
83 years on, our work remains rooted in its founding principles however, over the eight decades since the organisation was established, the needs of the community for which we serve have changed considerably. As a result, our services have needed to evolve to tackle the many complex issues facing children and young people growing up, in what is a densely populated area of London, where 48% live in poverty and over 60% are on the children’s social care register.
Today, alongside the provision of a seven acre park, playground and sports facilities, we deliver a wealth of services that include; an under 5’s drop in, a thirty five place nursery, after school clubs, holiday schemes, a free - five day a week sports programme and youth programme delivered from our state of the art youth centre.
Over the last few years, changes in the environment around us and in particular, the funding environment in which we operate, have meant that we have had to work harder than ever to sustain and in some areas expand our work, to continue to meet these changing needs.
The last three years have seen us make considerable progress in diversifying our funding base, in particular, in expanding our Trust and Foundation support, resulting in much greater stability for some of our core programmes. However, as the cost of running our services and maintaining our park, playground and buildings continues to rise, the need to generate unrestricted income for core costs is ever more pressing.
Coram’s Fields is now seeking a talented and ambitious Fundraising Manager to build on the success of the last three years. As the principle fundraising resource, you will be adept at working under your own initiative however, your role will see you work closely with a committed Senior Management Team.
This is a diverse role that reflects where we are at as an organisation. You will come with a strong track record of cultivating relationships with a wide range of supporters. Effective stewardship and retention of existing Trust and Foundation support will be key to your early success, as will the acquisition of new support from this source. In addition to this, you will need to lead the growth of our new Major Giving programme - the Patron’s Circle, whilst also developing our individual funding base and corporate support.
