London, Greater London
£36,000 - £38,000 per year
Permanent, Full-time
Job description

Location: Coram’s Fields, Kings Cross/Bloomsbury

Salary: £36,000 – £38,000 per annum (depending on experience)

Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week

For 85 years, Coram’s Fields has provided pioneering services for young people from birth through to early adulthood. Today these services continue to provide invaluable support to the local community. Our Youth Programme supports young people aged 9 to 19, providing a safe space and offering a wide range of engaging activities that support personal, social and mental well-being, and ensure that young people’s personal circumstances, are not barriers to them achieving their life ambitions.

Over the last five years, our reputation within the local voluntary and statutory sector has grown considerably, most notably through our work with high-risk young people, including those affected by violent crime, as well as our work with young women. Alongside this, we are seen by many as a beacon of good practice in terms of our youth work, finding creative solutions to some of the most complex societal issues facing young people today.

Our youth programme engages over 350 young people per year, just under 40% of whom are young women. Our engagement of young people spans multiple disciplines, each playing a key role in supporting a range of needs.

Our generations programme provides essential support to those transitioning to youth centre age, whilst our employability programme supports those at the other end of the age spectrum, developing and nurturing young people as they seek to enter the working world. Our work in the creative arts including a dedicated music production programme, provides the platform for young people to express themselves, whilst our community outreach on local estates enables us to reach young people, not yet ready to access mainstream youth provision.

In addition to this, we are the lead voluntary sector partner within a multi-disciplinary team supporting young men at risk of violent crime. We are proud through this work, to be pioneering the use of clinical intervention alongside conventional youth work to support the underlying issue of poor mental health among both perpetrators and victims, an approach that has contributed to the delivery of often life changing outcomes for many of our young people.

This is a challenging but hugely rewarding role and one that will provide an opportunity for a talented youth work professional to develop even further, the impact of our work locally. Fundamental to your success in the role will be an unrivalled commitment to the lives of children and young people, supported by an in depth understanding of the multiple challenges that they face. Even more crucial, will be your ability to turn this commitment and understanding into high impact services that produce tangible outcomes for those that we support.

You’ll be an inspirational leader, bringing a creative flair to your work with young people, harnessing the skills of those around you to deliver a truly exceptional offer.
