Job Title: Helpline Supervisor

Responsible to: Helpline Manager

Location: Coram Campus, London (some working from home available on an exceptional basis and according to service needs)

Salary: £25,520 to £29,575 per annum pro rate (ILW)

 

Hours: 35 hours per week (incl. regular work on Saturday) Willing to consider 28 hours per week (incl. regular work on Saturday)

We are seeking a capable and committed individual to help deliver Coram Voice’s innovative Always Heard helpline service. This Department for Education funded service ensures that young people in, and on the edges of care who have been unable to access their local advocacy support are assisted to have their voices heard.

This role requires a children’s rights champion who has the skills, experience and values to work effectively with the full diversity of the children and young people needing our advice and advocacy – and to support Always Heard helpline volunteers do the same.

This is a great opportunity to take a leading part in a team which makes a real difference to the children and young people they work with. Working with your fellow Helpline Supervisors, the Helpline Manager and our Always Heard volunteers you will ensure that children and young people are listened to and are supported to speak out about the things that matter to them.

We want someone who enjoys working with children and young people, is a capable advice giver, and supportive supervisor. We want an individual who is committed to making a real contribution to this vital service and the wider work of Coram Voice.

Within the role there will be the opportunity, should the operation needs of the service require it, to act as a Safety Net advocate for children and young people experiencing barriers to their local advocacy support. This will involve providing one-to-one allocated advocacy for young people (via phone/email and other digital means).

Coram Voice particularly welcomes applications from care leavers or individuals with experience of being ‘looked after’ by the state. We are also actively encouraging applicants from Asian, African, Caribbean and other minority ethnic backgrounds to join our teams. Whilst we have a diverse team we recognise we are a predominantly white workforce and are genuinely committed to encouraging candidates from diverse communities in order to improve the services to the children and young people we help.
