Job description

Coram was established by Royal Charter in 1739, as the UK’s first children’s charity. With some 400 employees, Coram is a progressive and responsive group of charities advancing contemporary practice to create better chances for children.

As part of Coram’s finance team our payroll function manages the end to end payroll process for 9 separate entities in the Coram group.Lead by the Head of Payroll, this small team provides an accurate payroll service for circa 500 staff which includes both salaried employees and hourly paid workers.

About the role

We are now seeking a Payroll Manager to join our growing finance team to support the Head of Payroll in managing the group’s payroll operations ensuring accurate and timely payments are made to our staff, pension providers, HMRC and other statutory and pension scheme bodies.

To be successful in the role you will have proven experience in operating a payroll system and hold or be working towards a recognised qualification in Finance or Payroll Management, e.g. CIPP. You will have an understanding of Income tax and NI calculations together with a working knowledge of all statutory payment legislation including SSP, Maternity, paternity and adoption payments and pension’s administration.You will be highly numerate with excellent communications skills with the ability to provide managers and staff with clear advice and guidance.
