Based in Redruth and/or St Austell

CN4C (Cornwall Neighbourhoods for Change) is a community-based charity and a social enterprise working with some of the most deprived communities in Cornwall. Our vision is: Challenge to Change. Better Lives, Better Off, Better Sense. We believe that the current system is unfair and people do not have equal opportunity to meet their basic needs and make their lives better. We challenge the system where we see it is broken. We challenge people to change their lives to achieve their potential.

We support the delivery of the Engine Room, which is an exciting programme that supports social enterprises and self-employed individuals in Cornwall to succeed. This includes focused workshops and coaching from people who have been there and done it, as well as connections with relevant experts and networks. 

The Engine Room is ERDF funded.

We are now looking for a Self-Employment and Social Enterprise Co-ordinator to join us in Redruth or St Austell on a contract until August 2022 and support the success of this programme.

The Role

As a Self-Employment and Social Enterprise Co-ordinator, you will facilitate the delivery of the Engine Room’s social enterprise and self-employment support programme.

In this key role, you’ll provide support on business planning, finance, fundraising, policies, procedures and development to people who are looking to set-up a social enterprise or go into self-employment.

Working closely with programme partners, you will:

- Market and promote the Engine Room’s services
- Manage a portfolio of social enterprises and complete initial diagnostic assessments
- Help to design an activities programme of supportive learning for programme participants
- Monitor the progress of programme participants
- Help the Head of Services to manage the Engine Room budget

About You

To join us as a Self-Employment and Social Enterprise Co-ordinator, you will need:

- Programme management and reporting experience
- Experience of supporting people who are becoming self-employed or are going into a social enterprise
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with people who have multiple and complex needs
- An understanding of the challenges that people from disadvantaged communities/with complex needs face and how to overcome these barriers
- Good literacy and numeracy skills

This is a full time role, working 37.5 hours per week and will involve some evening and weekend work.
