Corpus Christi College aims to appoint an outstanding individual to the post of Director of Development and Alumni Relations. Corpus is the sixth oldest college in the University of Cambridge and one of the smallest, with 300 undergraduate and 200 postgraduate students, 60 Fellows and 120 staff. Corpus is known for its friendly atmosphere and its long tradition of academic excellence.
The Director of Development and Alumni Relations has overall responsibility for building, maintaining and enhancing the relations between the College and its five thousand alumni, its supporters, and other potential benefactors. The Director will take the lead in designing and implementing the College’s development strategy, and will manage the work of the Development Office. Priorities will include: developing and refreshing the pool of individual prospects; engaging with recent graduates and overseas alumni; and spearheading a major fund-raising campaign focused on widening participation and the provision of bursaries and studentships. The appointee will be elected a Fellow of the College, reflecting the seniority and significance of the post.
Candidates will be confident, outgoing and sociable, with the ability to relate to different audiences. They will be driven and able to demonstrate outstanding leadership, interpersonal, diplomatic, negotiation and communication skills. They should also be able to evidence success in establishing and achieving ambitious fund-raising targets. They must have a proven track-record of developing innovative strategies and implementing change. They must be supportive of the College’s academic mission and be committed to its core values of academic excellence, mutual support and respect.
