Cambridgeshire, Peterborough, and South Lincolnshire (CPSL) Mind is a progressive and expanding mental health charity. Our vision is a society in which everyone has positive mental health and feels part of a connected community.

The Discharge Buddy Service

This service involves working alongside CPFT to provide ‘buddies’ to support individuals being discharged from mental health hospitals (Fulbourn & Edith Cavell) and crisis teams. We know that being discharged from hospital can be a tough time when people may need more emotional and practical support. Being a ‘buddy’ can help to support someone through the transition period and promote their independence when settling back in at home.

We are looking for buddies!

If you are interested in this exciting development opportunity and you are able to offer the below criteria, please apply!

What will buddies do?

  • Share own lived experience of mental health challenges
  • Provide weekly support, either over the phone, online or in person
  • Deliver interventions/support sessions to the individual (full training will be provided)
  • Provide emotional support
  • Provide practical support
  • Help the individual to make connections with their local communities (e.g. our Good Life Service)

Buddy criteria

  • You must be willing/able to do covid-safe home visits for individuals
  • You should be passionate about promoting positive mental health and have excellent verbal communication and listening skills.
  • This work will be predominately in the Cambridge area, but you should be willing to travel across Cambridgeshire occasionally.

CPSL Mind is an equal opportunities employer and welcomes applications from all sections of the community.

We will only accept complete applications, which should include Application Form, Covering Letter and completed Equality & Diversity Monitoring Form.
